I woke up to the irritating sound of my alarm. I let out a big sigh and a loud groan. I rubbed my eyes as I sat at the edge of my queen-sized bed. I whistled and I heard the fast footsteps of my pet dogs, Kuma and Kai. I smiled at them as they ran towards me. They always made my mornings better. I stood up, picking them up and then showered them with kisses before heading to the bathroom.
After my shower, I got ready for work. As a CEO of a fashion line, I always had to look presentable in front of my employees. I walked in my "closet", basically it's a room in a room. It was full of designer clothes. I picked a gray checkered vest with matching pants and a simple white Gucci shirt paired with black heels. I sat face to my vanity and applied a bit of makeup. I am naturally fair and my skin is also naturally clear so I didn't need to use heaps of foundation. I wore light peach makeup and ended my routine by brushing my hair.
I went downstairs and my maid, Vicky, greeted me with a wide grin. She's a very cheerful person and I love her. She's like a second mom to me. My parents are overseas, in Japan to be exact, they have their own business over there and they've decided to move 6 years ago while I was in business school. Now, I live alone in this gigantic mansion of ours. It's so quiet and lonely. I'm so thankful to Vicky for staying here with me instead of going home to her family.
I took a seat at the dining table and Vicky served me a cup of coffee along with a slice of toast.
"Sit and eat with me please?" I asked her.
"I was wondering when you would ask me that." She replied jokingly.
I chuckled, then we had breakfast together.

My driver drove me to work and I arrived early like always. I headed to my office at the top floor and was greeted by a few employees. My secretary, Roseanne was already waiting for me at her desk. She's one of my best friends, we went to high school and business school together. We've always been together since then. I went towards her and we had our traditional morning hug.
"Morning, Rose. Did you sleep well?"
"I slept like a baby, and you?"
"You always do, I on the other hand, didn't sleep at all."
"Don't overwork yourself, okay? Take some time off if you need it. I can take care of the things here."
"Aww... you're the best! But you know that I can't leave you guys alone."
"I know, now get in your office, it's almost time. You have a meeting in 10 minutes."
"Thanks so much, Rose. I really don't know what I would do without you."
"Girl, are you on your period? What's with all the drama?"
I shook my head and just laughed at her silliness.
I entered my office and there it was, my favorite place in the whole world. On the left, there's a shelf with all the awards I've received and on the right is a floor-to-ceiling window. And there right in front me, my desk. 2 computers and a plaque, "CEO Jennie Kim". Right behind the desk is our logo and the symbol of our hard work.
I sighed happily and sat on my chair. I logged in our server and connected to Roseanne. I sent her a message.
Send me all the files due for the end of this week as well as a list of the meetings scheduled.
Right away.
A few minutes later, knocks were heard on the other side of the door.
"Come in."
Rose entered with an anxious expression on her face.
"What's wrong? Why are you frowning?"
"I brought the files you asked for and I have something to show you."
She put the pile of sheets on my desk and she sighed.
"You have to see this."
She handed me the tablet and I saw a news article.
