Emily's Uncle Hugh left, leaving her awkwardly with Eric. She bit her lip. She honestly didn't understand why they liked each other so much. Or maybe she did know, she just didn't want to admit to it.
"So how many families are like ours, Eric?" Emily was incredibly sore so Eric helped her put on her clothes. That was where it got awkward, incredibly awkward. Eric didn't seem to even look at her. He was extremely careful not to touch her either. He smiled.
"Five, including us. Each one representing an important element in nature. They are the Morgans who control water, the Mitchells who control fire, the Ludwigs who are earth, the Montereys control the air, and finally and the most powerful family are the Alicantes, they control spirit. They're also all cockier then hell and annoying." Emily cringed. They didn't sound very friendly. She smiled.
"I guess that explains why you're such a hothead. Huh?" Eric laughed and so did she. He smiled.
"Would you like to see what I can do with my fiery abilities?" Emily nodded and followed him outside. He closed his eyes and then opened them. He threw his head back. His hair turned into flames and his eyes were black. He made designs with fire. Emily smiled.
"I wish that I could do things that are that cool. What can water elements do?" Eric smiled.
"You can make it rain, make storms, control water, breathe underwater, and control people's blood. So basically, if the whole world flooded, your family would be the only ones to survive." Emily smiled.
"Yeah and if the world ended in fire, which according to the Bible it will, you'd be the only one to survive." Eric smirked and held Emily to him. He had his arms around her waist.
"I would never be able to survive without you, Em." They started kissing. Fire and water. They balanced each other out perfectly, like yin and yang.
"So the Ludwigs can control the earth, The Moterreys can make leaves fly, and the Alicantes can control the mind, the spirit, and read minds? That seems cool." Eric rolled his eyes.
"It might seem cool but they think that it's so cool that they make their abilities annoying. The Alicantes lead the group because it is their birthright." Eric obviously didn't like these people. He used finger quotations for the word birthright. Emily didn't like the sound of them either. They seemed really annoying and snobby. Surely they had their reasons for being that way though. Everyone had a reason for acting the way that they did.
Just as Eric and Emily were kissing again, Hugh yelled at them to come in. Eric cursed and put his hands to himself Emily looked at him. Something was terribly wrong and tense and she could feel it. Was empathy considered a spirit ability? If so, why was she able to control spirit?
"Who is it that he's wanting us to visit with? It's the Alicantes, isn't it? Why would they want to visit us?" Eric looked at Emily. He seemed saddened and troubled by something.
"Actually Alicante. Alistair Alicante. And yes, it is him. Now come on." Emily nervously followed. She had no idea what was ahead of her. This made her nervous. She was feeling on-edge because everyone was feeling tense. She felt an air of arrogance and power. She fed off of it.
