((I heard the song Still Alive from Potral and I loved it, so here's a story time songfic. I changed the plot a little from Portal, because I actually never played the game. Still Alive belongs to Portal, and defiantly not me))
"She's one of them."
Takashi's eyes widened. Carala, the sweet android that had been helping them kill all those robots, was planning to kill them?
"She knows too much, so we'll have to kill her."
"Taka? This way.." Carala tugged on Takashi's sleeve.
"..Sorry." He muttered.
"Huh?" Carala looked up as Takashi raised his gun to her chest.
And he pulled the trigger.
Carala's eyes widened as the bullet shot through her metal body and collapsed to the floor.
"No, that's no use!" Takashi's partner hissed. "She's an android, we have to make sure she never gets up again." He gets out a sharp knife and ruthlessly sliced her to pieces and through her into the fire of they room they were in.
"I'm sorry.." Takashi whispered as he left the room.
Takashi and his partner managed to kill all the robots, deactivate the system that made the robots malfunction.
"This was a triumph."
Takashi suddenly opened his eyes. He was at home, dozing off on the couch. He could have sworn he heard Carala.
"I'm making a note here, huge success."
"Carala! If you're there, please come out!' Takashi called.
"It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Aperture Science. We do what we must because we can. For the good of all us."
A small figure peeked through the doorway.
"Except for the ones who are dead."
A scream comes from upstairs. It was Takashi's partner's voice.
"But there's no use crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying until you run out of cake."
The door opened wider, and Carala stepped into the room. She had a happy look on her face, but her eyes were blank.
"And the science gets done, and you make a neat gun, for the people who are still alive."
Takashi felt hit blood turn cold. Why was she telling him all this? His partner..was he alright?
"I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now."
Carala took another step into the room. Her movements were robotic, not like how she originally moved.
"Even though you broke my heart and killed me."
His gun. It was lying on the coffee table. It was not loaded, and even if it was, Takashi didn't think he would be able to shoot her again.
"And tore me to pieces. And threw every piece into a fire. As it burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!"
So his partner's scream. It was revenge, wasn't it? His partner is most likely dead..and he was next.
"Now these points of data make a beautiful line, and we're out of beta we're releasing on time!"
Carala's smile became wider, looking more like how she used to, but her eyes were still dull.
"So I'm glad I got burned, think of all the things we learned, for the people who are still alive."
Another scream, and Takashi started to slightly tremble. Satoshi.
"Go ahead and leave me. I think I prefer to stay inside. Maybe you'll find someone else to help you. Maybe Haruhi. That was a joke, haha, fat chance."
Carala laughed. But it wasn't a high, clear laugh. It was forced and..sad?
"Anyway, this cake tastes great, it's so delicious and moist."
This sounded more like Carala. Carefree, happy..
"Look at me still talking when there's science to do, when I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you."
Takashi's eyes widened when Carala reached into her back pocket and pointed her gun.
"I've got experiments to run, there is research to be done, on the people who are still alive."
Another scream rose into the air. Who was it this time? Who had Carala hurt now? Thoughts raced through his head.
"And believe me, I am still alive."
"C-Carala.." Takashi's voice shook.
"I'm doing science and I'm still alive."
"Why did you hurt them? Maybe him, but why Satoshi?" Takashi yelled.
"I feel fantastic and I'm still alive."
Carala took another few steps forward.
"While your dying, I'll be still alive."
Carala clicked the gun. To Takashi's surprise, tears started to form in her blank eyes, though she was still smiling.
"When you're dead, I wi be still alive."
Carala pulled the trigger and a loud bang erupted. Takashi shut his eyes, expecting pain, but he opened his eyes in surprise.
He wasn't shot.
But Carala was.
In the last moment, Carala had shot herself.
"Carala!" Takashi ran towards her. She was lying on her side, and her eyes weren't fed anymore.
"Still alive.." Carala sighed in relief when she saw him.
"Carala..he was wrong, right? You were controlled..you're not evil.." Takashi desperately shook her body. "Come on..stay alive!"
"Still Alive-" Carala's eyes died back into being blank, and her robotic body went limp.
