4 Years Later

The couple walked hand in hand along the Jamaican shores, the sound of the breeze and waves crashing against the rocks were the only things that were preventing silence but even then, the two didn't mind as the sounds calmed them.
Or at least, they calmed one of them. A sigh escaped the males lips, his hand softly running over the painful bulge on the side of his jean shorts. The woman next to him could sense that something was up but as always, never questioned it, leaving it up to the man to speak up.
As the woman kept her mind at ease, focusing on the warmth of the hand that was holding hers brought, the man kept his mind running with nerve racking thoughts.
He questioned what he was doing, whether it was a good idea or if he should back out but deep down, he knew that it was the perfect time. He knew he planned everything well and he knew that it'd most likely go as planned but still, he doubted himself.
He felt the woman who's been by his side for four straight years, rub up and down his arm, obviously sensing how tense he was. Although she was confused and slightly worried, she kept reminding herself to let him speak and let him come to her.
The woman watched as a fairly big group of people walked towards her and the man, yet she didn't question anything. It wasn't until they got closer, did the woman start paying attention to her surroundings.
Fairy lights hung from palm trees and the woman immediately recognised her family and friends all standing in a large circle underneath. A confused look made it's way onto her face as she turned to the man who kept a tight grip on her hand. He led her into the center, taking a deep breath as he turned to her.
"Babe, what's happening?" The woman spoke, looking around at everyone in nervousness, a blush making it's way onto her face at all the stares on her.
She watched as the man let go of her hand, moving to stand directly in front of her. He took in another deep breath before he dropped to one knee. It didn't take much for the woman to know what was going on, her eyes tearing up as she stared at the man.
"Amaya Faith Nketsi. . .we met four years ago today. Do you remember that? Sometimes I wish I could change the way we met but then I think about it and realise that if it didn't happen that way, we wouldn't be where we are today. We had a rough beginning and although I regret everythin' I did, it made me who I am today. It brought us together...it made us fall in love. You treated me like no one else did. Cared for me in ways that I've never been cared for. It was literally like God sent down an angel just to help me. It's been four long years of you being there for me, putting up with me, helping me, caring for me and me doing the same back. You've always been the thing I look forward to coming home to. You've always been that shoulder I could lean on. You've always been that person I can rely on and that person who I can love, who I know will give me back the same amount of love or even more. You've always been my everything. I couldn't have asked for a better woman, honestly. You do everythin' for me and I feel like I'll never be able to repay you. I knew from the moment that you were about to leave me four years ago, that I just couldn't let you go. On the day that you agreed to be my girlfriend, I just knew that one day I'd be asking you to be something more than that and it's finally come. Sweetheart, my beautiful, amazing, caring, loving, smart, intelligent girlfriend...would you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" Coo's could be heard by the surrounding family and friends but right now, the two in the middle only focused on each other.
