At breakfast, the table was quiet. Wednesday was sitting there eating while Carrie felt her stomach twist in knots. Something was wrong. She looked over at Noah who was eating silently as his eyes darted around the room nervously.
"Well this is quite the quiet breakfast..." Wednesday spoke up from the table as Carrie stuttered out a response.
"S-sorry, I was kind of zoning out..."
Noah said nothing.
"Noah," Wednesday looked at the panicked boy, "you've been awfully quiet this morning. Something troubling you?"
"Yes... well... no... I'm going to excuse myself." Noah tried to get up before Carrie grabbed his hand.
"Noah, what's wrong?"
"I... I don't wanna talk about it."
"Noah dear," Wednesday looked at him, "if you don't tell us what's wrong, we can't help you."
"My dad..."
"What about him?" Carrie looked into Noah's eyes, sensing his fear.
"He found me last night..."
"What?! Why didn't you tell us?!"
"He sent the kids after me, Carrie. You're in danger, we all are, unless..."
"No!" Wednesday stood up from her seat and slammed her hands on the table, "You are not leaving us again!"
"It's for the best, Mrs. Addams, I wouldn't want to risk putting you or Carrie in any danger."
"Noah, we are capable of defending ourselves. You're family now and I know not only I, but Carrie has grown attached to you. Get dressed in some of Carrie's sweats and come on, we're going out."
"W-What?! What if someone recognizes me?"
"Trust me, nobody will recognize you..."
At the store, Carrie and Wednesday walked in with Noah, disguised as Jeremy Turner. He had on black sweatpants and a grey hoodie, hands shoved in his pockets as Carrie walked alongside him down the sports aisle.
"Will a baseball bat work?" Carrie pulled a metal bat off of the shelf as Noah looked at her.
"Yeah... I guess..."
"Are you okay? You've been weird about all this."
"It's just..." Noah sighed, "you should have never helped me. I didn't want you to get wrapped up in this..."
"No, it's fine. My life's weird anyway, it's good to have a bit of action sometimes."
"But not some that endanger your life."
"Look, it's not the good kind of action, but I've been stuck in this town ever since my dad fought with his parents. From what I know, it was a pretty bad fight... Honestly, it's kind of nice to have some action in my life." Carrie looked down at the floor as Noah looked at her hand hanging on the bat. He took the bat from her hand and set it back on the shelf, replacing the missing metal with his hand.
"Carrie..." Noah looked into her eyes, grabbing her other hand in his.
"Noah..."
"Come on... w-we need to go back to your house and start packing..."
