3 years later...

I still remember those eyes. Those beautiful brown eyes my mother had..my wonderful Carissa. The gentle, soft and loving touch they held when they looked at me before she got sick...before she was gone. Those aren't the kind of eyes I'm seeing right now from James Adams. I'm seeing hard, dislike, lost eyes that hold no sign of love..

He is holding me an inch or two from the ground. Along with Julian doing the same with Josh beside me. We were having a peaceful moment and enjoying the time of quiet sanity before these boneheads decided to ruin it.

"What do you want James." I said it in more of a statement than a question. The look he gave me once it left my mouth, made me regret it.

If eyes could throw knifes, I'd be cut or dead. "Well now Sabree.. that's for us to know and you to....find out once we say it." He grins at me and glances to Josh that's being squished into the tree. "Actually, not here for you lovely. Here for mister saviour here."

I followed his gaze to Josh and wondered what on earth would he want with him. Isn't it me he's been torturing?

"What do you want with him? He hasn't done anything.." I speak my thoughts while looking at Josh who gives me his eyes in response. He doesn't want me to egg it on worse, but he's my friend.. He doesn't need to be added with what I get on a daily basis.

"Sab.. leave it be.." Josh mumbles quietly like he's fighting against himself. Why does he want me to keep quiet? I don't think James can get any worse with his beatings. What more damage can he do that he hasn't done already?

I quiet down just for the sake of Josh, not myself and look back to James who looks amused from the entertainment show he's watching between us. He finally let's me in on the secret, "I'm not here to harm... unless it's needed." He gives me those knife eyes again before continuing, "we're just here to grab Joshie boy and head off for some work. Ya know...men stuff."

By the look on both James' and Julian's face, I'm taking that as it's not in a good sense of, Josh does some work and gets money after for his hours of duty. This gives a bad feeling.

"What's the work?" I looks to Josh hearing him speak to James finally since he's arrived. He isn't looking at me anymore, all focused on James with a serious look that makes me worry more. Like he already knows.

"You'll find out when we get to our destination later. Once we grab you, we're heading out."

I'm not liking this conversation. Especially with how Josh is taking it so cool like. This poor guy is having to grow up to quickly.

"Alright. I'll be ready to go in five." Josh replies back to James who had finally let me back onto the ground, but hasn't released me fully yet.

I avert my eyes from Josh to look up at James who's already looking at me. Those eyes again.. green and full of fire. The eyes that used to entrance me and make me weak at the knees like I've fallen into a pit of fluff foam, only scare and traumatize me now. Makes feelings in my stomach that aren't pleasant like butterflies. More like a fire burning me from the inside out. I used to love them..stare for hours.. now I wish they never laid a gaze in my direction. Now they never stop looking towards me.

He reached his hand up and I flinched cause I was expecting him to hit me, but to my surprise and Josh's from the look of shock on his face, he didn't. Instead, he gently stroked my cheek like it was the softest thing he ever felt and whispered close to my ear, "I'll see you when I get back okay?" I watch him in complete lost. He's never like this...not since the hitting started.

His hand didn't feel very warm, it was freezing cold. Felt as if he had his hand in an ice bucket for a good few minutes. But I didn't dare move from his touch or the response would've been worse then a light touch on the cheek.
