Chapter 18 - Obstacle Course

"Begin!"

Immediately everyone started charging through the door way. I quickly realised that this door way was far too narrow for us all to easily fit through. Hold on, they're testing us, this is the first obstacle. I suddenly felt cold near my legs and realise that ice was coming towards me.

I quickly jumped off the ground and propelled myself forward using room temperature water to make sure I didn't hurt the people beneath me.

I saw that other people, mainly the ones from my class had also managed to avoid Shoto's ice. I was really grateful that I had pushed myself in training, I was now able to use my quirk for much longer without having to drink water.

The ice on the ground finally stopped and I was able to run normally but I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw what was in front of me.

"Are those the zero pointers from the entrance exam!" I exclaimed. There were a few of the smaller robots in the way but they were easy to take care of. Suddenly I saw one of the robots head for Shoto but he managed to stop it with a single blow with his ice.

I saw him run through the legs of the robot. Oh no, he froze it off balance, nice trick but I'm too smart. A lot of people were crushed but I dodged out of the way.

I saw Eijiro and that Tetsutetsu guy burst out of the robot. This is ridiculous, their quirks are basically the same. I heard explosions go off beside me and saw Katsuki fly his way up the side of the robot and land on top of it.

He was then quickly followed by Hanta. I flew up to them along with Fumikage. All four of us quickly made our way off the robot and towards the next obstacle.

At the moment, Shoto was in first place, Katsuki, Hanta, Fumikage and I were ahead enough to not be able to see any one behind us but unfortunately Shoto couldn't see us either.

We finally made it to the second obstacle. It was a huge canyon type structure with tight ropes connecting towers of earth inside.

I could see Shoto ahead but I could also see people behind us catching up. Katsuki had pulled in front of me and I figured out that I was in third since I also pulled ahead of the other two.

Katsuki was able to cross the entire thing in one go with his quirk but unfortunately I was not as strong with mine and had to hop from one to another.

I got to the end and turned back for a split second to see a girl with pink hair carrying a bunch of gadgets flying through the air. Tenya was also making his way towards my end, he was quick but he also looked really weird.

Gotta go fast.

I finally made it to the third obstacle a mine field. I saw Shoto and Katsuki way ahead of me, they were neck and neck with each other. I was still in third but the distance me and the two at the front was enormous.

Explosions were going off left and right but I stayed focused. I didn't think about anyone else, just about how I'm going to get through this as quickly as possible. I was about three quarters of the way through the field when suddenly I heard a huge explosion behind me.

What the heck?! The mines were specifically made not to be that big or to injure anybody! While everyone else had stopped and gawked at the commotion, I stayed focused and pulled ahead of the people who were previously right behind me. I heard someone screaming and that screaming was coming from... above me?

Izuku had used that huge explosion to boost himself from near the back to first place! Shoto and Katsuki had stopped fighting each other and started targeting Izuku. I still went fast through the mines when I saw Shoto made an ice path for himself.

Perfect. I used that to my advantage, now I didn't have to worry about stepping on any mines. I focused on what was in front of me.

Izuku flying up side down in between the other two. He was loosing speed but what he did next I never expected. He flipped over, put both of his feet on the backs of Katsuki and Shoto. Using the piece of robot he was carrying, He slammed it into the ground setting off a couple mines.

That was what he needed to get in the lead. I couldn't see what happened after that as there was too much smoke in the way but when I finally got through it, Izuku was way in front.

This was the final part of the course, just a straight run to the finish line. I put my water pressure at 100% and went faster than I had ever gone before.

Yes! I made it! I crossed the line panting and exhausted. What place did I come, please say I stayed in 4th.

"Deku, not again, no way." I heard a voice growling. Katsuki did really well, I don't know why he was so angry. I went up to him, he didn't notice me approaching since he was still tired and his head was hanging low. I hugged him as hard as I could. "(Y-Y/N) what the hell! We are on live TV!"

"I'm squeezing all of that anger out of you!" I said, innocently smiling up at him, knowing full well that this was really embarrassing for him. His face flushed a deep red.

"Tch, idiot." he said and he ruffled my hair. "Why do you have to be so damn cute all the time." Now it was my turn to turn bright red. I let go of him in a panic and waved my arms in front of my face.

"What the heck! you can't just say stuff like that to me!" He smirked, knowing that he had succeeded in making me more embarrassed. Gotta get out of this! "Oh hey look! They're about to show the rankings! Better get going, bye!" I said quickly and dashed off to find Ochaco.

I finally found her and they put up the leader board. "Yes! I'm in fourth!" I shouted. I looked to see where Ochaco was ranked. "Hey Ochaco, you did pretty good too!".

Midnight took her place on the stage and announced that only the top 42 were going to advance to the next round. She then got onto revealing what the next round would be.

A cavalry battle? We all had to be in teams of two to four. She went on to explain that based on that he had all been assigned a point value based on the results of the obstacle course. This meant that each team would have a different point value depending on who was in the team. The point system went so that the point would go up in increments of five.

The person in first place though was worth... 10,000,000! Oh my goodness! As I was in fourth place I was worth 195 points.

We had fifteen minutes to form our teams.

Let's do this!
