Chapter 30 - Exams - Part 1

"Alright, that's it for class today. There's only one week before your final exams begin, I'm sure you're all studying constantly, right?" said Mr Aizawa. "Don't forget to keep training, the written exam is only one element. There's also the practical portion to worry about. Good luck." He finished talking and walked out the door.

Okay, so at the moment I'm ranked 7th in the class based on our midterm exams and even though that's pretty good I'm still having trouble with quadratic functions. I then overheard Momo offering to help Denki and Mina who where a bit behind on some things. I went over there.

"I've been studying but could you please help me out too, I'm having trouble understanding (worst subject)." I said sheepishly and she looked at me surprised. Then came Kyoka, Hanta and Mashirao seeking help as well.

"This is wonderful. Yes, let's do it!" Said Momo punching the air. "Okay, we can hold the study session at my residence over the weekend! Oh I must call mother and have her prepare the great hall for us to set up, it will be the perfect spot!" Great hall? "What kind of tea does every one like, I'll have her make sure we're stocked-"

"EARL GREY!" I shouted and people looked at me weirdly but Momo kept on blabbering so I kinda slipped away to talk with Eijiro and Katsuki.

"Sounds like I should be studying with her-"

"You think I don't know enough, maybe I should beat the lessons into your-"

"OKAY! Why don't we all calm down." I said to them both.

During lunch, I had heard that we would be up against robots like in the entrance exam. We had gotten our information from Kendo who saved us from Monoma being an idiot.

"It shouldn't matter if it's robots or actual people." Said Katsuki. Bruh, he better not be starting any more beef. "Why are you morons so excited? Hey Deku, I don't know what's going on with your power but I saw the way you were using it and I want you to know, it's seriously pissing me off."

I honestly do not understand this boy sometimes, I thought he was okay when we talked about it the other day. "I won't have another half-assed win like the festival. We'll be getting individual scores in the upcoming finals, new rankings. So we'll all know exactly where we're standing! I'll show you how much better I am."

At this point he's got a whole farm worth of beef on his hands. "And Todoroki," I choked at what he said. Todoroki? TODOROKI?! WHAT HAPPENED TO ICY-HOT OR HALF 'N' HALF?! "I'll kill you too." He then stormed out of the classroom, slamming the door shut on his way out.

Me and the people in the small study group where all sat at the table in 'The Great Hall'. Like, what's gonna happen, is Dumbledore gonna pop out now? We all waited patiently for her to arrive when we heard the door open. Momo walked into the room with our tea and she began the studying.

I've got to be honest, she was a pretty good teacher and she made it so easy for me to understand (worst subject).

The first day of the written exam finally rolled around and we began the test in silence. I read every question carefully and answered every single one in full. I guess Momo's teaching did help out. I did the same for the second day and the third. Just as I finished the last question I heard:

"Alright, put your pencils down. The last person in each row bring the sheets to me." Just like that, our three days of written exams were over. Now it was time for the practical.

We headed to the changing rooms to get out costumes on. This time we were extra cautious while changing just in case Minoru had somehow found another hole to look through. I took off the locket that Katsuki had given me and put it into a locker along with all my uniform and things. Ever since the day he gave me the locket I would always wear it unless I was wearing my hero costume, I wouldn't want it to get lost or broken.

"Hey (Y/N), who gave you that locket? Was it who I think it is?" Said Mina smirking and wiggling her eyebrows at me. A light blush came on my face and I turned to face her.

"Uh yeah, it was Katsuki." I said scratching the back of my neck.

"Can I look at it? Pretty please?" She said putting her hands together. I sighed and took it out of the locker to give to her. As she was looking at it, the other girls also came around to look at it. Mina then opened it and let out the loudest squeal I have ever heard.

"ARE YOU SURE THAT THIS IS BAKUGO IN THE PICTURE?!" She shouted in disbelief and I laughed. The picture was the one that Mitsuki had taken that day I met his parents.

"Yes, I'm pretty sure that it is him in the picture." I said.

"Who the hell took it though, are they some creepy stalker or something?" Asked Kyoka.

"No, not at all. It was the day the sports festival ended and I met his parents that day at his house. What happened was I was ready to go home when he kissed me but we had forgotten that his mum had gone to get a camera so when she came back she decided to take a pic." I said laughing.

They gave me back the locket (after they had all taken a picture of the inside with their phones) and we headed out to join with others and find out what our exam would be like.

"Now then, let's begin the last test." Said Mr Aizawa. We all huddled together and in front of us were nine teachers. "Remember it's possible to fail this final. If you wanna go to camp then don't make any stupid mistakes."

"Why are all the teachers here?" Asked Kyoka. He then said that we might have some idea of what we were about to face off. Denki and Mina shouted out 'Robots!'. Suddenly we heard a voice from inside Mr Aizawa's scarf.

"Actually, this years test," Principle Nezu popped out of the scarf, "will be completely different for various reasons." He said. "The tests, now, have a new focus, there will be hero work, of course. But also teamwork and combat between actual people." Where's he going with this? "So what does that mean for you? You students will be working together in pairs and your opponents will be one of our esteemed UA teachers. Isn't that fabulous?"

Against the teachers?! Mr Aizawa then said that our pairs and teachers have already been chosen according to various factors. These where the pairs:

1. Kirishima & Sato VS Cementos

2. Asui & Tokoyami VS Ectoplasm

3.  Iida & Ojiro VS Power Loader

4. Yaoyorozu &  Todoroki VS Eraser head

5. (L/N) & Uraraka VS No. 13

6.  Ashido & Kaminari VS Nezu

7. Jiro & Koda VS Present Mic

8. Hagakure & Shoji VS Snipe

9. Mineta & Sero VS Midnight

10. Midoriya & Bakugo VS All Might.

(I got rid of the Tamaki Su- I mean Yuga Aoyama for (Y/N))

I looked at each pair and with what teacher they were paired up with. This is terrible! They've paired us up with a teacher or other student that puts us at a big disadvantage. For me and Ochaco e.g: her quirk is for close combat while mine is mainly for mid/long-ranged fighting; Our quirks don't really work against a black hole; what can you do by floating water, basically nothing.

This was gonna be hard.
