When we got off the plane I was shaking. Not because the sun had just set and made it a little chilly outside, but because I was a nervous wreck. "My gosh look how gorgeous it is here!!!" my mom said excitedly as I stood alone taking it all in. "Cassie, what's wrong? Isn't this place absolutely beautiful?!" she exclaimed. It was. It was gorgeous. Louisiana looked nothing like it did here. "Do you want to go do some looking around before we go settle in to our new home?" mom asked. New home. I didn't really like the sound of that. It sort of scared me even. "I'm not really in the mood to go exploring mom" I explained. She nodded her head and we got in our car to head off to our 'new home'. "It's about a 30 minute drive from the airport to the house so get comfortable", my mom told me. I couldn't get comfortable. My mom must have known something was wrong with me because before I knew it she nudged my shoulder and asked what was bothering me. "Nothing mom, I'm just tired." I said trying to get her to back off.
"That's not true Cassie."
She knew me too well.
"Still thinking about Drew?"
I put my head down. Drew. Of course she would bring him up. Drew is my ex boyfriend, and truth is, she was right. I haven't stopped thinking about him since the break up. Even though he wasn't the best boyfriend at times but we all have our faults don't we? His just seemed to be liking cursing at me and hitting me from time to time when he said I deserved it. I know, I should have broke up with him way sooner, but I loved him, and part of me can't doesn't know how to let the good parts go. At least now, I was forced to, but that doesn't mean it still didn't suck. "Come on Cassie, you'll get over him. Especially when you see these Cali boyssss" she said with a valley girl accent. She was right. I did need to move on, I've been knowing this for a while now and now I have no other choice. Right now I just wanted to sleep the rest of the ride to get my mind off things. "Wake me up when we're there?" I asked my mom. She nodded and turned down the radio so I could sleep.
