Jeremy?...
Yeah, Michael?
The grass fluttered from underneath them. The young boys laid down on the grass during recess time, having spent all their stamina chasing each other in a heated game of tag. Michael thought about what he was gonna say.
...
We're gonna be best friends forever...right?
Jeremy turned to face the 5th grader. He flashed a toothy grin, as he suddenly sprung up to his feet. His back was facing Michael, his hair gracefully dancing in the afternoon breeze as leaves blew past them. Michael couldn't help but think that Jeremy looked like a protagonist to an anime.
Finally, Jeremy turned around to face Michael, his hand entangling with his hair blowing in the gusty breeze. He closed his eyes and smiled once again.
Of course, Michael.
We're gonna be best friends for-

Michaels hand came crashing down on top of his alarm clock, silencing the retched noise until next night. He propped himself up on his bed and rubbed his now 20/20 vision eyes. He was so accustomed to reaching for his glasses first thing in the morning, but things are changing, he guesses.
Michael goes to his closet, his eyes already disregarding the worn out red hoodie laying in the waste bin. He reaches for his new shirt he bought the other day, and slipped it on.
"Ah, I was wondering when you would finally wear something other than that dirty old jacket"
Michael looked over at Jeremy, now materializing behind him, and shrugged. Jeremy walked over to Michaels closet alongside him and pulled out a decent pair of pants his moms gave him one day. Michael grabbed it without flinching and changed into it.
"I see your finally deciding to listen to me without objecting"
Michael zipped up his fly. "Maybe I just realized how stupid it was to just cry and complain about someone who doesn't give a shit about me"
Jeremy's smirk grew wider.
"Well...finish up soon, you'll need to find some popular kids to befriend so you can build reputation," Michael nodded, patting down his hair.
"Michaeeeel? Anak, breakfast is ready!" One of Michaels moms called out. Michael rolled his eyes and smiled ever so slightly.
"I'm coming mom!"
——
Michael walked to 4th period. He didn't have Jeremy in this period, so he didn't need to worry about anything. Michael trucked on, almost reaching the door when rich stopped him.
"So did you do it??"
Michael stared at him blankly. He then nodded, making rich grin. "Hell yeah man! We should hang sometime," Jeremy suddenly rematerialized beside him. "Say yes, Michael. You'll need him to become more popular," Jeremy whispered into his ear.
"Ok"
Rich smiled even wider. "We can play Xbox!" Michael rolled his eyes and plastered a fake smile on his face. "Eheh...sounds like fun.." he said, doing his best to sound interested.
He would rather play AOTD with Jeremy in his basement, but those days are long gone.
"Well, I'm gonna head to class so the lady doesn't yell at me again ahaha" rich shrugged, adjusting the strap on his backpack, "see ya later, Mell"
"Uh-bye rich..!" Michael answered, before ducking into the door.
——
It was lunchtime.
Michael went outside to sit under the shady spot under a tree, like he usually did before he got a spuip. Michael was just about to plop down on the grass, before he got another shock.
"OW! DUDE WHAT DO YOU WANT?!"
Jeremy looked at him. "Today, your going to sit with Rich,"
Michael shrugged. "Tch. You coulda just told me man," he said, stretching as he stood up again.
Michael walked back inside, scanning the room for Rich. Michaels eyes landed on a table near the center of the cafeteria, where Rich was currently laughing with food in his mouth and talking to jake.
He was surprised he wasn't with Brooke or Chloe or something.
He brushed it off quickly and tried his best to casually walk over to Rich.
Rich's eyes fell onto Michael, before smiling and throwing an arm around his neck. "Heeeey Jakey D, meet my new friend Michael!" Rich beamed, "he's a pretty cool guy, so you mind if he sits with us?"
Jake shrugged. "As long as he doesn't start talking about nerdy stuff it's fine by me," Rich then plopped Michael down into the seat next to him.
Michael leaned over and whispered, "how'd you know I was gonna ask to sit with you?"
Rich finally turned over to look at Michael. He then tapped on his head. "Ohhhh the sq-" "AHA ANYWAYS," Rich interjected before Michael could finish his sentence. "What were you saying Jake?"
Michael brushed it off again and let himself immerse into the conversation.
——
Michael couldn't help but feel the stares boring into the back of his head while he was talking to rich and jake. It made him slightly uneasy. People whispered all around him, but rich and jake couldn't seem to notice.
Probably because everyone was staring at him, not them.
Michael gulped. He wasn't used to all the sudden attention. He could barley make out people muttering "look over there" or "isn't that Michael?"
Michael was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice that the bell had rung.
"Well-see ya in 6th Jake!" Rich boomed heartily. "Yo Mell, I'll walk ya to 5th. we have the same class right?"
"Uh-I think I'm gonna use the bathroom first...go ahead without me man"
Rich shrugged. "Suit yourself"
With that, rich turned on his heel and made his way into the crowd of people heading into class.
As Rich left, Michael was the last one in the cafeteria. He stood there for a minute, until he felt someone tap him on the shoulder.
He glanced up for the slightest moment and saw Jeremy.
Michael rolled his eyes.
"Can't you go bother me another time? I need to get to class without you materializing in front of me every five seconds complaining about how my hair looks or something," Michael said, not bothering to look at him.
"Uh...what?"
Michael sighed in annoyance and finally looked up.
"I said, IM B-" Michael was cut off by what he saw.Jeremy wasn't sporting his usual electronic glow and classic nerdy look while floating above the floor. Instead, he was wearing designer brand clothing, he was standing on the floor, and was overall more human like.
Jeremy waved awkwardly.
"It's...it's nice to see you too, Micha..."
Cliffhanger time lmao :)))
