It was a good day. A good day to get annoyed at the sound of the alarm going off. He opened his eyes in a single flick of his eyelashes before sitting up without the thought of sleeping again crossing his mind. After all, he wasn't the kind to waste his day away and he definitely wasn't the type to sleep in just because he could. He slept on time and woke up on time. He would brush his teeth, bath and picked out his outfit of the day before fixing his hair and making sure he looked the most presentable as possible. He picked up the pair of white gloves that matched his outfit and slid them on as well before exiting his room to start his day.
He also made sure to get to the dining table sharp at 8am for breakfast. He sat down and waited at the stretched out dining table for his parents and younger sister to join him. His parents smiled and exchanged greetings with him as they sat down.
"Have you seen your sister, Minhyun?" His mother, Eun Na asked. Minhyun shook his head in response as he removed his gloves and placed them beside him on the table.
"I have been here since 8 and I have not seen a sign of her yet," he replied his mother.
"I see. Dear, would you be so kind to find the princess?" His mother asked one of the maids who stood by her and the female bowed before leaving to find the princess.
"Today is an important day for her and she's late," his father, Min Seok, sighed. "I can only hope she doesn't try to run away or that would definitely give the Kang family a bad impression."
"Are the Kangs coming over today?" Eun Na asked and his father nodded.
"The father and his son. We are to discuss their betrothment today."
Minhyun clasped his hands together as he pursed his lips, trying his best not to say anything regarding the topic of their conversation. He knew how rebellious his sister has been acting recently and he supposed he understood why now. Being married off to a total stranger was definitely not something his sister would agree to. The Hwang siblings didn't interact much since they were very different in personalities and his sister would often get annoyed at him for his straight laced personality. He was always the good child, obedient and strict even to himself. He hardly ever spoke back and would listen quietly rather than create a mess out of a situation.
"Well then, I suppose it would be imp-" His mother's words were cut off by an angry yell and in stormed his sister, Eun Jung followed by the maid who his mother had sent to find her.
"I said I'm not marrying anyone!" She hissed and stomped her foot defiantly. Minhyun flicked his eyelashes as he watched her storm off again. He observed his parents' uneasy expressions before his mother stood up.
"I will try to talk some sense into her. Go ahead with breakfast first. I know you both have schedules to attend to," the lady of the house said as she left the dining room to find for her angry daughter. His father turned to Minhyun who followed his gaze.
"I guess it's just you and me," he said and the young prince nodded. Their meals were served and he ate in silence. Even the slicing of the meat barely made a noise. Once he was done, he wiped his lips and hands before sliding his gloves on again.
"I shall excuse myself now," Minhyun said and bowed to his father.
"Wait a moment. Would it be alright for you to join us later when the Kang family arrives?"
Minhyun thought for a moment. As much as he would just say yes, he was curious as to why he would be needed there and so he asked. "And why would my presence be needed?"
"They are not coming just for the betrothment alone. We are going to be discussing about the future of our businesses as well."
"The betrothment... it's for business?" Minhyun asked in a whisper and his father seemed reluctant to reply but he shook his head in the end.
