Months passed from then on. They had gone on with their own lives, perhaps forgetting about each other or perhaps missing each other. No one knew because they never talked about the other anymore. Even when Eun Jung tried to ask Minhyun about Baekho or talk about him, he often brushed her off especially when their mother was around because she had banned the mention of him in the house as well. Baekho didn't know anyone in the States and nobody knew what he had gone through either or who he was. They just knew him as the rich kid who had bodyguards and nobody dare approach him because the bodyguards would stop him so he was also dubbed the lonely kid.
Every day was boring and suffocating. He tried to focus in class but it was difficult when he didn't even feel like studying. He couldn't skip or even sleep in class either because his lecturers were all paid to report back to his mother if he ever acted up. He was under constant surveillance. After classes were over, he would be escorted back to the car and drove home. He wasn't allowed to take any detours or stop for even just ice cream. He would enter the house where his mother would await him. Sometimes if he was lucky and she wasn't at home, he would sneak out by bribing the house gardener and spend some time in the park nearby. That was the only form of freedom he had left. But more often than not, the bodyguards would find him and bring him back before they got screwed over as well. Living with his mother was torturous and Baekho had never felt more trapped in his life. He wondered if this was how Minhyun felt or maybe the other was used to it that it didn't bother him anymore.
It had been 5 months by then. He laid in bed, staring out the window. He thought about the night with the fireworks. He shut his eyes and imagined holding Minhyun again. Exchanging kisses, smiling to one another and engaging in sexual acts together or even just peaceful cuddling. It helped him get through his nights easier as it would lull him to sleep. That night was a little different when he heard a thunk against his window. His eyelids flickered open and he gazed upwards at the window before a rock bounced off of it again, shaking the entire glass pane. Baekho turned around and blinked, wondering if he had just imagined that but another rock came flying again, bouncing off with another thunk. He got out of bed and opened the window, surprised when a rock came right at him and hitting him in the forehead. He cried out and held his forehead in pain.
"Ow. Who the hell-" He rubbed his forehead and tried to find the culprit. Beyond the walled mansion was a figure waving their hands frantically to get Baekho's attention. Baekho squinted but couldn't tell who it was since the person had a hoodie on and it was dark out. He noticed the person picking up another rock, trying something to it before throwing it with all their might towards him again. He ducked this time and it dropped inside his room. He quickly picked it up and untied the paper that was wrapped around it. He noticed it was a note that wrote 'Hwang Eun Jung here! Need to talk to you. Can you sneak out somehow?'.
He gasped in disbelief and looked out the window again. The figure removed their hoodie, revealing long hair and an awkward smile. He waved back and quickly scanned the area. It was already almost midnight so he knew most of the guards wouldn't be working except for two who had the night shifts. He would have to be very careful if he were to attempt sneaking out from his mother's protected compound. He looked around his room and quickly changed into a black hoodie and pants first, hoping that would help him blend in with the night. He turned off his room light and threw some bolster and pillows underneath his blanket, knowing anyone would be stupid to fall for that but it would have to do now. This was more urgent. It had been months since he saw Eun Jung as well and being able to talk to her would mean he would be able to check up on how Minhyun was doing.
He carefully climbed out from his window and looked down, slowly lowering himself and holding onto whatever ledges he could to help him climb down before he was low enough to hop down safely. He hid behind the flower bush when he heard footsteps coming around the corner with a flashlight.
