Chapter VII

A T H E N A

Our special spot was near the thick woods that surrounded our pack. We had come across this place the year before and thought that it was absolutely beautiful. We sat down in a spot where the grass was a little shorter than the rest of the area before I started explaining the events that took place at my house, trying my best not to cry. Anna just kept quiet and listened to me speak. When I finished speaking she hugged me and soothingly rubbed my back. "I think he still loves you Athie, he is your brother after all," she said as she held me close to her. I just nodded my head and sniffled since I didn't feel like saying anything.

Suddenly we heard the bush to our right shake and a twig break. Anna and I froze, fear engulfed our being and made the atmosphere around us tense. We quickly stood up and held each other's hands. "Who's there?" I asked out loud. "That was the most stupid thing you could do! The person who does that is always the first person to die in a horror film!" Anna shouted as she panicked.

"Can you calm down?" I said. Suddenly a man stepped out from behind the bushes. He had blonde hair that had dirt and twigs in it, his red eyes lifeless held a crazed look in them and he smelt rotten.

A rouge.

The man smiled maliciously. "Hello little girls, How are you doing on this fine day?" He asked in a raspy voice. "First of all why do you care and second off all this day was fine till you showed up, " Anna shouted at the man. "Wow, that was such a smart move, Ann!" I said sarcastically.

"Come with me and I will buy you anything you want." Said the rouge. "Oh, we will come with you when pigs fly!" Anna screamed "Yeah we may look stupid but we're not idiots" I sassed. "Shut up both of you! I tried speaking nicely but now you're testing my patience and let me tell you that it's running very thin" He shouted angrily. "Bipolar much!?" Anna screamed which made me chuckle softly, that's just how Anna is, she just doesn't know when to shut up, but neither do I.

We smelt our dads and my brothers before we heard them behind us due to our heightened senses. Anna and I smirked knowing that the rouge didn't stand a chance against them. Suddenly we saw Anna's dad Peter, Andrew, Axel and my dad standing behind us looking furious. "Why are you on my land mutt?" My dad growled out in his Alpha voice which made the person he was speaking answer truthfully. The rouge smirked and pointed at me "I want her" Everyone tensed hearing this.

"Leave before we kill you" Andrew growled out. The rouge suddenly lifted a gun and pointed it at Andrew which caused Anna and me to gasp. "Give her to me and everyone leaves unharmed," said the rouge. "NO!" everyone except the rouge growled out. "Alright then," he said before turning the safety off. I didn't think twice before I jumped in front of Andrew using my body as a shield to protect him.

Time seemed to slow down. The sound of a gunshot rang in the air and I felt some pain in my chest, my dad and Peter ran towards the rouge and snapped his neck. Anna's screams filled the air as someone caught my falling form. I felt arms go around me and hold me close. I looked up only to see both of my brothers looking down at me with tears falling out of their eyes.

"Oh my god baby stay awake, please stay awake, I'm so so sorry I-I didn't mean to hurt you. I was breaking up with her that's why I closed the door, please forgive me, please, oh goddess this is all my fault." Andrew rambled out as he cried. I lifted my hand softly wiped a few of his tears. "I love the both of you too," I said as I offered him a pained smile before my eyes flickered close and I succumbed to the darkness as it surrounded me.

A N D R E W

"I love the both of you too," she said as she gave me a pained smile before her eyes closed. "No, No, NO ATHENA KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!" Axel screamed out in a pained voice. Dad rushed towards and looked at Athena's tiny body in my arms as tears fell out of his eyes. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I had never seen Dad cry before. He quickly took Athena from my arms before telling me that he was taking her to the pack hospital.

Axel and I nodded before standing up. As I went to pat my pants down I saw the amount of blood my baby sister had lost, taking that bullet for me. Axel and I looked at each other with tears in our eyes. I brought him into a hug that he surprisingly returned. I just hoped that she would be alright, if anything were to happen to her I would never be able to live with myself. Axel and I held each other for a minute before calming down and heading to the pack hospital since we wouldn't be of any help if we were wrecks ourselves.
