The Moon Goddess's Granddaughter

Chapter XII

Three years had passed since the youngest of the Williams family had shifted for the first time, surprising everyone. The men of the family couldn't be more protective over the girl. The family found it hard to digest fact that Athena was no longer a little girl with two little pigtails who ran around the house all day. She had matured into a beautiful young lady, with hair as black as a starless night and eyes as grey as the moon with a hint of blue giving her a look of innocence. Every member of the Williams family had met their mate, everyone except Athena. Even the boys mates were protective over Athena.

Athena lay deep asleep on her bed when her alarm suddenly started beeping loudly. Athena grumbled in her sleep as she aggressively hit the 'snooze' button. A smug smile made its way onto her face as the alarm stopped beeping.

I heard my door open but didn't pay any attention to it. Something heavy fell onto me and knocked all of the air out of my lungs. I happened to catch a whiff of the heavy weight's scent and immediately understood who it was. "Axel! Get off of me you dipshit!" I said as I gasped for air. "No can do lil sis, strict orders to get your ass out of bed from mom," Axel said as he laughed annoyingly "Ugh, MOM! Axel is trying to kill me!" I shouted with all my might.

"Axel Williams, I told you to wake your sister up, not kill her!" mom said exasperatedly. "I know, but she wouldn't wake up!" Axel defended himself. "You didn't even try to wake me up!" I said feeling even more annoyed than before. "What's the point of trying when I know you won't wake up," Axel said smugly. What he said was true, but I would never tell that to him. "Ugh, I feel so sorry for Anna! She's stuck with this dumbass" I groaned out. "I would like to let you know that my ass is very smart, it can fart on-demand," said Axel with a proud smile decorating his stupid face.

"Wow! I wonder why you haven't gotten a noble prize yet. Idiot" I retorted, sarcasm evident in my voice. "Numb-nut", "Fart-head!" Axel gasped dramatically "I fart with my ass and not my head, thank you very much!". "Dear Lord, what have I given birth to" Mom exclaimed as she attempted to pull Axel's heavy body off of me. "Axel Brian Williams get up, this instant," mom said sternly which caused my brother to get off of me faster than you could say, Jack Robinson, which didn't surprise me since he was a big 'mommy's boy', and there wasn't anything scarier than mom getting pissed off.

"Go and get ready, Now!" mom ordered Axel, which made him leave my room but not before making silly faces toward me which caused me to reciprocate and do the same to him. "Don't make me repeat myself." mom said which caused Axel to quickly run away. "Couldn't you have said that earlier and avoided all of this?" I asked as I slowly got off of my bed. "Maybe, but I was bored and that was very entertaining" Mom answered with an amused smile. "Mom!" I whined pathetically. 

"Anyways, get ready and come downstairs for breakfast as I can't hold the pigs back for too long," Mom said which caused a chorus of "Hey!" and "I heard that!" come from the rest of my family. "You were meant to" Mom laughed as she shook her head and left my room. I got ready and walked out of my room, only to see Axel walk out of the room he shared with his mate. We made eye contact, I smirked at him and ran down the stairs with him hot on my heels, this was a daily occurrence. I jumped off of the last step and looked up, only to see my parents kissing each other.

"Ugh, I did not wake up early to see this" He groaned. I didn't mind seeing my parents show each other how in love they were, as I aspired to have what they had with my mate. "Axel Brian Williams, you will not speak to your parents like that" Anna exclaimed as she walked into the kitchen and hugged me. "What is it with people calling me by my full name today!?" Axel whined. "Don't worry about him, he's just being a grumpy old man because I won," I said as I smiled proudly. "I am not an old man," Axel said as he rolled his eyes. "Aunty Athie!" Issac, Andrew's three-year-old son, exclaimed as he ran towards me.

I acted quickly and picked him up as I showered his face with kisses. "Alright, time for breakfast," mom said when she noticed that everyone was downstairs. Issac sat next to me as I helped him eat his pancakes. "I swear that boy loves you more than he loves us" Drew said as he chuckled along with the rest of my family. I smiled as I looked at Issac, he was my little baby. "Kids, I wanted to tell you all something" Dad said, which caused all of us to give him our full attention. "As you all know, we have the Blood Moon pack visiting us in a week. Now I want everyone to be on their best behaviour. Alpha Robins is a man with a short temper, I don't want any fights with him or his pack members. We will be as hospitable as possible towards them, is that clear?" Dad finished his little speech which caused all of us to agree with him.

"Aunty could we pwease go fow a wawk" Issac asked me sweetly as he looked up at me with pleading eyes. I smiled lovingly at him before nodding my head. "Why don't you go and tell your mommy that we're going for a walk while I go and get my phone," I said which caused Issac to nod his head cutely before running off to wherever his mother was. I walked past my father's office with my phone in my hand.

I could hear someone speaking in a hushed voice behind the door. And since I am a person who tries to avoid drama, I leaned my ear against the door. "Why is the Blood Moon pack, one of the strongest packs to ever exist, coming to us?" a voice, seeming to be my brother's voice asked whoever was standing behind the door. "I don't know, be on high alert and don't let any of them near Athie, we know what they're capable of" my father replied.

As I walked towards my nephew questions lingered in my mind. Who were the Blood Moon pack? Why were they coming to us for help? And why did they need to be kept away from me?
