Athena fell asleep with her mate's arms wrapped around her tightly. A bright white light flashed behind her eyelids, similar to the one she saw the night she first shifted. Soon the light dimmed and she opened her eyes before looking around and taking her surroundings in. She was sitting on the greenest grass she had ever seen. The smell of fresh, wet mud filled her nostrils. Pretty flowers danced beautifully in the gentle wind. "Athena," a melodious voice called out to her. Looking around Athena saw a beautiful oak tree and walked towards it when she realized that the voice was coming from the tree.
Walking closer to the tree, she could now see a lovely swing placed on one of its branches. Athena could see the back of a woman in a long white dress who had long black hair which swayed as she swung gracefully on the wooden swing. "Um, excuse me?" Athena said. The woman didn't turn around and continued to swing now humming a sweet melody. "Excuse me miss, could you please tell me where I am?" she asked again.
The lady continued to hum a melody and didn't reply. Athena was beginning to get annoyed, she walked to the front of the tree and looked at the lady. The lady was gorgeous, her golden-brown skin glowed and her black hair cascaded down past her shoulders to her hips. Her grey eyes glistened with happiness and love as her pink lips split into a warm smile.
Athena tilted her head slightly in confusion. "I hope you don't mind me asking this, but who are you?" Athena questioned politely. The lady smiled softly and got off of the swing. "I am someone who loves you very much," she said as she walked towards the young girl. Athena was utterly confused by the situations he was in. The lady chuckled slightly before she closed her eyes.
A beautiful golden diadem appeared on the woman's head. Athena gasped when she noticed the crescent which was shining brightly. "Grandma?" Athena whispered in disbelief. The Moon Goddess smiled softly and nodded her head. The young girl ran into her grandmother's awaiting arms and broke down. Selene stroked her granddaughter's hair lovingly as she held her tightly.
"Grandma, why is it that you left my dad with the Williams?" Athena asked curiously with her head in her grandmother's lap on the grass. "I didn't have a choice sweetheart," Selene started with a deep sigh. "Believe me when I tell you that I didn't want to, never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine giving my baby away. It broke my heart to hand him away, but that was the only he would have been safe. He would have ended up getting hurt if I kept him with me. What hurts me the most is that he questions my love for him which has only grown as he grew up. My mate and I have watched him grow up and we have watched you and your siblings grow up without ever being able to show you our love. The only time I had been able to give him my love was when he slept, I would kiss his forehead softly and leave before he woke up." Selene said sadly as she stroked Athena's hair gently.
"Could you tell me anything about the war that is going to take place?" Athena asked, effectively changing the sombre subject. "Well, this war is going to be one of the biggest wars ever seen by humankind. The war will take place between your father and your uncles' packs and the rouges. It is your job to tell your father that the rouges are teaming up with the Hunters and that the war will take place nine months from now. Remind him that the rouges you are going up against are the kind that will betray you and you must never trust them. I will be training you here in my haven and you must train the rest of the wolves. During the war, I will help you by becoming one with you." Selene said as she looked down at her granddaughter.
"Wait, what do you mean by that?" Athena asked as she sat up. "What do I mean by what?" Selene asked sounding confused. "You becoming one with me during the war, what do you mean? How will we do that?" she asked curiously. "We don't have enough time for that, I'll explain it to you later, for now, you must tell your father that in this war our enemies will become our allies," Selene said. "What?" Athena asked confused. "Just tell that to your father, he will understand," Selene said. "Alright, at least tell me when I'll get to meet you again," Athena asked her grandmother as her surroundings began to fade away. "Tonight my love," Selene said as she faded away.
Athena woke up with a start and looked around only to see her mate sleeping peacefully next to her. Athena smiled softly and laid down next to her mate before cuddling close to him. Athena thought about the conversation she had with her grandmother as her mate's body heat seeped into hers.
'What did she mean that they will become one during the war? and what did she mean when she said that our enemies will become our allies in this war?' were the thoughts swimming in her mind.
Athena turned around in her mate's arms and looked out of her window. The moon looked as if it was closer than usual. It glowed beautifully lighting the trees and the grass up. The moon glowed when Athena looked at it which caused Athena to smile and close her eyes knowing that she would soon get all of the answers she had been searching for.
