The Moon Goddess's Granddaughter

Chapter XXV

Athena woke up to the sound of the pack alarms going off. An unwanted visitor had entered the pack grounds. She ran downstairs with her mate in tow only to see everyone running around frantically. 'Get all of the pregnant women, children, and elders into the safe house,'  Adrian's voice rang clearly through the mind link. Ashley and Anna helped Angela get everyone into the safe house which was located under the Alpha's house. 'Has anyone seen Gamma Neil?'  Andrew asked through the pack link, only to receive several 'No Alpha' statements in response. 

A distinctively repulsive smell let the pack know who their unwanted visitor was. The men growled as they instinctively stood in front of their mates and the Alpha's family, protecting them from any sort of danger. "Hello old friend," a deep voice greeted Adrian. "Step out of the shadows you coward," Adrian growled. A rather pale young man stepped out of the shadows followed by a man and a woman who stood behind him proudly. 

"You guys can step away from those poor creatures, we come in peace," the young man said with a small smirk. This made the men growl lowly while Adrian rolled his eyes. 'At ease' Adrian said through the link. "What are you doing here Abner?" Adrian growled. "Hey, that is no way to talk to an old friend who also happens to be your cousin!" Abner exclaimed. "We're related to vampires!?" Axel spoke in utter disbelief. "Leo!" Serena exclaimed as she walked towards them. "Auntie Serena!" Abner grinned as he gave Serena a tight hug. 

"Can someone please explain what's going on?" Athena asked no one in particular, sounding extremely confused. "Can we speak inside? Somewhere more private," Abner asked politely as he looked around suspiciously. The family walked into the Alpha's house once everyone had gone back home.

'Get Gamma Neil's mate to my office at 9:00 am tomorrow' Andrew told his Delta seriously. 'Yes Alpha' was the curt response he got from his best friend who knew that he wasn't talking to his best friend Andrew right now, he was speaking to the future leader of the pack.

"Do you always have to have a dramatic entrance?" Simon asked his nephew once his family settled down in his son's office, one of the only soundproof rooms in the house. "What is life without drama?" Abner asked as he looked around the room. "Are we supposed to answer that?" Anna whispered to her best friend who simply shrugged her shoulders in response. "Boring, much like you lot," Abner said as he rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry but who is he and how are we related to him?" Andrew asked his father as he looked at the young man sitting on the couch as if he owned the house.

"It hurts me to know that you guys didn't talk about me," Abner said as he offered the family an exaggerated pout. "Oh cut the shit Abner, it was you who walked out of our lives without ever trying to contact us," Adrian said as he rolled his eyes. "Well Abner is your father's cousin," Serena started only to be interrupted by her grandson, "Yeah, as funny as it is I think we gathered that much" Axel said in a rather sassy voice. His sassy remark was rewarded by a hard smack on the back of his head from his mother, "Don't interrupt your grandmother," was all she had to say for everyone in the room to sit quietly. 

"Anyways, as I was saying Abner is my late sister's son. My elder sister Savannah's mate Devon turned out to be a vampire, and my backward minded mother disowned her. She forbade us from having any sort of communication with each other. Savannah and I were forced to distance ourselves from each other. We reconnected with each other once our mother passed away. Savannah and her mate Devon passed away because of a rouge attack and left her 2-year-old in my custody. Leo grew up with your father and your uncles until he turned 22-years-old." Serena explained, sadly reminiscing her memories of her sister. "Why do you call him Leo, isn't his name Abner?" Andrew asked his Grandmother curiously. "Well his middle name is Leonardo and I have always called him either Leo or Abbie" Serena explained as her grandson tried to stifle his laughter."What happened once you turned 22-years-old?" Athena asked curiously. "I left the pack, to find myself," Adrian laughed loudly at his cousin's answer. 

One look from his mother was enough to shut the Alpha up immediately. "And did you end up finding yourself?" Ashley asked curiously. "Not really, but I did find myself a coven to lead" Abner replied with a shrug of his shoulders. "Oh, I completely forgot to introduce these two" Abner started by hitting his hand on his forehead. "This is my best friend and second in command Owen-" Abner started and pointed to the tall and handsome dark-skinned young man who stood behind him and offered them a warm smile. "-and this is Elora my third in command who also happens to be Owen's mate," he continued and pointed to the petite blue-haired light-skinned woman who stood next to Owen and offered a small smile. 

Owen looked young and muscular with a rather tamed afro on his head, he looked sweet because of his dimpled smile and warm brown eyes, but his muscles and tattoos let everyone know that he could crush their bones in a second if he wanted to. Elora looked like the sort of person who took a bit to open up but was sweet to everyone around her with her blue hair and welcoming green eyes

"Aren't you going to introduce them to me?" Abner asked his cousin as he motioned towards his niece and nephews. Adrian was about to give a wise-ass response when he thought otherwise noticing the serious look on his mother's face. Adrian huffed out dramatically and got up to introduce his family. "And we were wondering how they were related," Axel said with a small chuckle. "This is my mate Angela, who you've met already," Adrian said. Abner nodded his head and was about to kiss his sister-in-law's hand when his cousin's loud possessive growl made him drop her hand as if it suddenly caught on fire. 

"This is my oldest, Andrew and that's his mate Ashley, they have a three-year-old whose sleep you disturbed because of your dramatic entrance," Adrian said as he glared at his cousin who looked ashamed. "I'm so sorry," he said as he rubbed the back of his neck shamefully. "It's no big deal," Ashley said dismissively as she offered a small smile. "This is my second born Axel, and his mate Anna," Anna blushed lightly when Abner greeted her which caused Axel to growl possessively and wrap his hand around her waist as Abner and Anna rolled their eyes. "And this is my daughter Athena and her mate Wade," Athena smiled sweetly at her uncle who looked at her with a bitter-sweet smile. "What's wrong?" Serena asked her nephew when she noticed the sad look on his face. "I'm just sad that I didn't stick around long enough to see them grow up," Abner said with a sad smile.

"But you never told us why you came back here all of a sudden," Athena said after everyone caught up with each other. "Well the first reason is that I really missed you guys, and the second reason is that I'm here to help you guys with the war," Abner said as he looked at his family. "How do you know about the war?" Andrew asked his uncle seriously. "The rouges and hunters attacked our coven," Owen said as he held his mate's hand tightly. "And what happened?" Angela asked, her protective Luna side was showing clearly. 

"They injured many of my vampires but we were able to question a few of the rouges who said that they were planning on attacking the Dark Moon pack for the Alpha's daughter in a few months, we took off the moment we heard that,". Everyone in the room growled loudly when they heard the last sentence, Wade pulled his mate into his possessive embrace.

"What are you suggesting Leo?" Adrian asked his cousin. "I'm not suggesting anything, I'm telling you that my coven is going to fight along with you in the war," Abner said with finality in his voice.
