Shadow Bird:There are many sly, sarcastic superheroes whom exist in the fictional world. What makes those types of heroes likable is their human, redeeming qualities like their knowledge of where their limits are in terms of being humorous and especially the love and care they have towards their loved ones. This goes perfectly with Shadow Bird a.k.a Jeremy Ethos as he knows when to be funny and when to be serious. He can also be emotional when being confronted with intense situations, Alta Heroes episode eight;"Does Violence Have To Solve This Crisis?", showcasing him weeping with Aubrey over reading Gloom Producer's file, being proof of this trait of his. More evidence of this trait of his lies in the episode following;"Our Heroes", where he's seen mourning the death of his father and his mentor/father figure Gabriel, the latter's death causing him to shed tears over the fact that the man was the father he never got to have. As for his hugest inspiration for his vigilante getup, as many have guessed, it's Batman. Fricken Batman everybody! Not only does his outfit take heavy influence from him, but he sometimes mocks his Christian Bale voice whenever he feels like it. The tech person of the group, Shadow Bird can come up with some sick inventions used for helping the team for whatever reason, be that an upgrade to their weapons or just technology he finds convenient in their daily adventures. He also possesses the ability to learn the history of objects by simply touching through hard concentration. Many characters posses this ability, such as the gothic vigilante known as The Crow. Including his love for learning things and his genius mind, this ability fit him like a glove. Despite his often upbeat persona, Jeremy does hold insecurities that he tries to hide from the group. One of his fears that isn't shown often is his fear of not being good enough for the team, as well as his other insecurities revolving around him not wanting to show his vulnerability, something he has in common with Aubrey. After all, we all have those moments where we may need to be strong for certain situations. There are also situations where we don't want others to see the pain we hide deep inside us everyday out of fear they would see us as weak or attention seeking. And, the most saddest, and at times the most overlooked, of situations is when we fear not being good enough. We fear not meeting the expectations of our parents, our peers, our mentors, and those who have faith in us. But, what we need to understand is that sometimes, we fail. We don't learn everything quickly, we fumble when we try to say something important, we don't get something right the first time, our emotional barriers shatter after taking too much unkindness and harshness, and we break our bones every time we push our bodies to their limit. It shouldn't be a crime and it shouldn't ruin your life. You should be allowed to be human. You should be allowed to cry. You should be allowed to feel pain. No one should tell you not to be human as no one has that right to. As said by one of my favorite YouTubers, Sage's Rain;"Feel everything, always.", you should be human no matter what. That is what Shadow Bird is learning. He's also learning how to not hide his vulnerability, like how Aubrey is warming up to the idea. It's not an easy process, especially regarding his childhood of bullying and neglect, but he'll learn those words in time. In the meantime, Shadow Bird continues to be the fun loving vigilante he is helping anyone he can with the help of his new family.
