Laughter Lines - Chapter 24

Ella's POV

I could see Dan from the other side of the room watching me talking to Audrey and James. I gave him a smile and got another back. The Irish man took another sip of his coke and I got up from the couch. I made my way towards my boyfriend

"Hey..." I smiled looking up to him.

"Hya..." He looked down at me.

"What are you doing here by yourself?" I placed my hands on my waist.

"Errrmm... nothing..." He answered.

"That's the problem: nothing... So you're coming with me! My sister can't wait to meet you!" I took his hand.

"But..." He stopped me. "What if she doesn't like me?"

"C'mon Dan!" I rolled my eyes. "She will love you!" He mumbled okay, and I "dragged him out" to where Ryan, Audrey and James were.

"Hello..." Daniel quietly said, rubbing the back of his neck. He was visibly nervous.

"Hello! You must be Dan!" My sister stood up and friendly hugged him.

"Yeah... I'm Dan... and... you are Audrey, right?" He held my hand tighter, unconsciously.

"Yup! This is James, my boyfriend..." She smiled to him who immediately stood up from the couch and gave Daniel a hug. After some seconds, they pull away and the nervous guy places his arm around me. I see my mom approaching us and smile at them One year ago, I would never want my mom to be in parties with friends but this year is different. I guess I've grown up a little bit.

"Hello...!" They cheerfully say, mom taking another sip of her cider. We all greet them. I look up to Dan and see his quite terrified expression. He slowly lets go of me, causing me to look confusingly at him.

"Oh don't be embarrassed!" My mom laughs while Dan blushes madly. "But Ella, you never told me you had a boyfriend!"

"Oh... no? Huhhh..." I look at Dan who's nervously rubbing the back of his neck. He looks at me and nods. "But yeah... he's... my boyfriend... mom..." The truth is that I was never good at introducing boyfriends to my mom and Daniel is the third one.

"I'm Daniel..." Unsurely, Dan approaches mom and kisses her cheek.

"I'm Catherine... Nice to meet you..." My mom smiles shaking his hand

"Nice to meet you too..." Dan holds my hand again. Gosh, he's shaking. Keep calm, babe. I whisper into his ear, earning a shy smile from him.

We all start talking joyfully and I decide to tease Ryan.

"So Ryan, how's your girlfriend doing?" I wink at him, expecting him to get speechless.

"She's doing fine." He glances at Rose who's already smiling like an idiot. "She's actually here..." He places his hand on Rose's lap.

Mrs. Blackburn looks

"Yeah... Rose is my girlfriend..." Ryan smiles and looks seductively at my best friend, who is blushing madly.

Mrs. Blackburn confusingly looks at me and then at him.

"Hey..." Rose shyly mumbled while Ryan held her hand.

"That's a great surprise! Huhh... well I'm happy about the fact that you found yourself a girl, Ryan." My mom winks at him. "And Rose is an amazing girl..." She smiles.
