Jazz's POV -
After tiring myself from my walk/ run, I was finally able to lock away all those disturbing thoughts. Sighing, I sit down on one of the swings in the park. All the children and parents had already left the park as the sun had started to set. Even though the park was deserted, it gave me a sense of tranquility, an opportunity to just confront myself, to allow myself to be vulnerable without the comments, gestures and judgements of people.
Taking out my water bottle and phone from the bag, I gasp seeing the time. It was already half past six. God, I have been running around for more than two hours continuously. No wonder my legs feel like they are burning.
Shrugging, I unscrew the cap of my water bottle and start drinking it in small sips. It is only when I start drinking water that I do realize how much thirsty I was. Screwing back the cap, I put my phone and bottle back inside the bag and take out my packet of Oreos.
Silently, I begin to munch down the heavenly treats while gently rocking the swing back and forth. The calm breeze blowing slowly, the gentle rustling of the leaves and the violet-blue sky indicating the beginning of the night made me smile as the memories of my hometown come back into my mind.
My hometown, Lucknow, is not a big town when compared to the famous metropolitan cities of India like Delhi, Kolkata or Bengaluru. But, it's not exactly a blip either. After all being the capital of a state does get you some credits. The busy market streets, the beautiful monuments and the crazy population burst at malls is definitely hard to miss once you step inside the city.
Back when I was a kid, I remember those days when me and my friends and my annoying little sister would play in the parks till the sun was practically invisible and our parents had to drag our butts back to home. Sweet, innocent childhood memories. Untroubled, untainted children playing together.
My thoughts were broken by the sound of someone cursing loudly. I quickly zip my bag and make my way towards the source of the noice.
Because that's SO not what dumb female protagonists in a deserted area do on hearing noises.
Could you shut up, I'll just peek and leave if nobody is in trouble.
God, why the hell do you not understand the meaning of MIND YOUR FREAKING OWN BUSINESS.
Flipping off my inner voice, I peek from behind the bushes and see a boy about to smash his guitar on the ground.
"STOP," I yell as I jump towards the boy, snatching away the beautiful instrument before it could be broken.
What happened to I'll just take a peek and leave?
Not THE time.
Blocking my inner voice, I focus on my boy standing in front of me with a confused expression. He seems familiar, where have I seen him? As I wonder about the resemblance, I take in his almost 6 ft figure with black hair and blue eyes. He seems to be doing the same as we both narrow our eyes.
"Listen sweetcheeks, as much as I'd like to spend my evening admiring your hot body, I have places to be. So, could you give my guitar back to me?" the boy asks smugly, while extending his hands for the guitar.
And just like the time when you have an enlightenment moment or how you suddenly figure out the last piece of the puzzle, my brain starts to work and I remember exactly where I had heard his voice.
"It's YOU!" I practically scream while pointing at the guy.
"I know girls have this effect when they stare too long at me," he replies, flashing me a lopsided grin.
