Chapter 14

Kimberly POV

I was on my way home from Tommy's house when my phone dinged. I took my phone out and looked at it. It was a text from Tommy. 'Meet me at the football field. Now.' He texted. I looked up from my phone. Why would he text this? I just left his house 45 minutes ago. I shrugged putting my phone in my pocket and headed to the school.

I found the others in the football field as well. "So, we all got the same text. So where is he?" I asked walking to the bleachers. The others raised their hands into the air. "No clue. Just told us to meet him here." Trini said with a shrug. "I'm here." Tommy said from above us. He looked like crap. "What happened to you?" Zack asked. "Look, Rita came to my house tonight." He said. "What?" I asked. "Yeah. She's real. Insane." He said revealing bruises and cuts on his neck and torso. "She nearly killed me. She was trying to get me to join her. She said she'd spare my life, if I could keep a secret." Tommy said. "What secret?" Zack asked. "At dawn, the destruction of Angel Grove begins." Tommy said. "This is real. This is the end." I said looking at Jason. "No, it's not. Where is she?" Jason said. "She said to meet her where the dead ships live." Tommy said. "Okay. That's the boatyard by the docks, right? Let's go." Jason said. "What?" I asked. "Are you serious? No one?" Jason asked. "Jason...I'm all for kicking Rita's ass...but I literally just got my ass handed to me. Rita just kicked my ass to the moon and back." Tommy said rubbing his shoulder. "Jason, we're not even Power Rangers yet." Trini said. "I say we go back to Zordon." Billy said. "Okay, the only reason Zordon wanted us to become Power Rangers is so he can come back to life." Jason said. "What makes you say that?" Billy asked. "Because he told me." Jason said. "Wait, so this all is a lie?" Tommy asked. "Of course, it was a lie, Tommy. We failed. Let's stop being delusional about being a team of superheroes." Jason said. "We're all screw-ups. And as much as I hate this scrubby, bullshit town, I don't wanna just sit around and watch it die, okay?" Jason said looking at me. "Let's go and do the one thing that's been asked of us and kill Rita." Jason said. "You know this is a really bad idea, right?" I said. "The worst." Jason said. "Let's vote. Show of hands." Jason said. Trini was the first to raise her hand. Then I did, then Zack, Jason, and Billy. We all looked at Tommy. He looked around at us. He rolled his eyes. "What the hell." He said raising his hand. "Let's do it." Jason said.

The six of us grabbed various weapons at the boatyard and looked for Rita. I could see Tommy tensing up at a every slight noise. "Billy..." Tommy said. "Yeah?" He asked. "Would you happen to know where the crystal is?" Tommy asked. "Yeah it's..." Billy said whispering to Tommy. "Seriously?" Tommy asked looking at Billy with furrowed eyebrows. "No way." Tommy added shaking his head. "Wait, you're being serious." Tommy stated. "Yeah." Billy said. "Huh." Tommy said tightening his grip on a metal pipe. I watched Tommy walk ahead of us to a building. He had a slight limp in a step that he was trying to hide from us. Whatever Rita did to him...he surely didn't want us to know about it. But whatever it was....scared the hell out of him. He stopped at the entrance of the building and looked at a figure in a chair in the middle of the building. "Okay. Okay, let's go." Jason said. We walked in and surrounded the figure in the chair. We ran at it to find it was a regular man that had been tied up. "Well, untie him." Billy said. "Hold this." He added. "No, no, no. Let's just think about this, okay?" I said. I looked over at Tommy. His eyes went wide. His head slowly turned up to the ceiling. "Oh, shit!" Trini said. Rita jumped from the ceiling and landed on the floor. She kicked Tommy away, sending him flying into the wall. He got to his feet, looking at the pipe in his hands. He threw it to the ground. "Yes...that's right...Tommy...get angry." Rita said to him. "You're right on time. I was beginning to think you were too dumb to know where the dead ships live." Rita said. His hands balled into fists. Rita smirked. Tommy ran at Rita and threw a bunch of punches at her. She dodged out of the way and raised her gold staff into the air and swiped Tommy's legs out from beneath him. She slammed the staff into him sending him away with a flash of sparks. Tommy hit the wall and crashed to the floor as the others attacked Rita, failing as well.
