Chapter 3

Phoenix's P.O.V 

       I sighed looking warily at the isle causing Carlos to take my hand in his giving it a reassuring squeeze flashing a smile towards me. I smiled back my stomach still churning with anxiousness " Phoenix relax okay, I promise nothing is gonna happen " he whispered in my ear as I nodded as we got out of the limo looking for the four selected Vks. Ben stayed not far from me knowing that I was still wary about setting foot on the Isle and Carlos kept his arms wrapped around my waist, which I didn't mind since I felt more safe and relaxed near him. After a few seconds Jay's voice rang through my ear " Let's hit the road " Jay said after we had collected the four Vks. I clung to Carlos's arm my tail flickering brushing against my leg as my ears bent back slightly. The twins looked up to their father with a nervous expression written across their faces " You're gonna see them soon, Okay? Come on " Carlos said reassuring them before taking my hand in his holding it tightly as we led them to the limo " after you M'lady " Carlos said opening the door for me causing me to giggle " Why thank you My fine gentleman " I replied climbing in the limo and sitting beside Squeaky while taking Carlos's hand in mine and helping him in. On the way back to Auradon I stayed silent my hand intertwined with Carlos's while Evie and Dizzy talked about what they were gonna do " So, as soon as we get to Auradon you have to try ice cream. " Evie said sweetly to Dizzy who immediately got excited " And go swimming " she asked sounding hopefully " E, you should take her to the enchanted lake " I suggested sending a playful wink towards her as Evie nodded liking my suggestion " That is a good idea " she said sending me a soft smile. 

       I nudged Carlos getting his attention before eyeing the candy. It seemed he got the hint because a small smile appeared on his lips as he grabbed a Reese's cup and handing it to Squeaky, who eyed it suspiciously " Go on. Trust me on this " Carlos said as I nodded looking a small child " It's really good...you can trust Carlos " I said as the child took my word and took a bite of the candy and as soon as he did his eyes widened before he continued to eat more of it " I know. Dig in Dig in " Carlos said smiling triumphantly wrapping his free arm around the small child while his other stayed intertwined with mine. Celia turned to Ben holding out a fan of Cards. Ben picked three of the cards and handed them back to her " You're going t be a wise and brave King " she said as Mal leaned forward placing a hand on his arm " he already is " she said as I laughed to myself " somewhat " I mumbled but Mal heard it playfully glaring at me " You know I'm joking " I said to her still laughing to myself " The cards never lie " Celia said with a prideful smile as Ben pulled out his wallet handing her a big stack of money.  I looked to Ben with wide eyes and a big smile on my face before shaking my head at him. Suddenly our peaceful ride was interrupted " It's Hades! " Evie said causing us all to turn around to see the former god tearing through the barrier and he didn't look to happy. 

      I inched closer to Carlos gripping his hand tightly fear clouding my eyes as I felt my breathing pick up. A few weeks or so after the incident with Janis and Sharpay I was diagnosed with Anxiety, so stuff like this triggered it and caused me to panic " Stop the car. He's trying to escape"  Evie demanded before noticing my fearful state " Phoenix look at me... " she said but her voice sounded as if she was underwater. Carlos quickly notice of the state I was in as Jay stopped the car. " I am a god! I don't belong here! " Hades shouted tearing the opening wide enough for his ember to work. Carlos, Jay, and Ben ran towards planning on doing who knows what but was blasted back by Hades " Phoenix breath okay...Breath look at me and breath " Evie said pressing my hand to her chest as Mal turned into her dragon form to protect and keep him form escaping. As she was keeping him at bay, Hades shot a blue beam at her chest causing her to let out a roar " Blast him Mal! " Jay encourages as Mal did just that and blasted Hades back behind the Barrier. Evie looked at me attempting to calm me down " Phoenix...It's okay now just breath okay? " she said and at long last I finally managed to catch my breath and calm myself down. Mal transformed back to herself and landed on the trunk of the limo holding her stomach " Are you okay? " Evie asked her voice laced with concern as Mal looked at her " No, he was draining all of my magic with the ember, and I felt all of my powers slipping away " Mal cried in pain before turning to me " Is Phoenix okay? " she asked as Evie looked towards me " Yeah she's getting there, we need to get her home " Evie said noticing that I was paler than usual and needed to rest. 

        Carlos ran towards me pulling me in his embrace clenched onto his jacket for some sort of comfort. We stayed there for a few minutes in silence " Carlos, Are you okay? Did he hurt you? " I asked frantically looking for any sort of answer in his eyes " I'm fine, baby girl, but my question are you? " he asked cupping my face and brushing my hair out of my eyes " No, Carlos I'm not fine...I feel like the walls are closing in on me and I just need to get home before I lose my mind " I said still sounding frantic as he pulled me to his chest " You promised me " I said simply as he lead back to his limo " I know, I know...I didn't know that was gonna happen it's okay now. We'll get you home and then you can rest " he said running his fingers through my hair gently kissing my temple to sooth me. I sighed leaning more into his embrace as we made our way back to Auradon while Ben, Evie, Mal, and Carlos watched over on the way there making sure I was alright.
