Chapter 20

Phoenix's P.O.V

I kept walking wiping my tears away hearing Mal's pleas get quieter as I got further from them. My blood was boiling but on the other hand my heart was aching slightly from being lied too something I hated. I'm sure I would find a way to forgive Mal but it would take time. I spotted Uma and Harry threw my blurred vision not far ahead of me " Uma? Harry? " I called out catching their attention. They turned around and headed towards me and Uma grabbed me by the shoulders gently wiping my tears away " Phoenix? What happened? " she asked taking notice how I was paler than usual " I-I don't know! I just got really mad at Mal and Ben. I guess I just exploded and I kind of feel bad and- " I said feeling my chest tighten up as my breathing picked up. My Anxiety was suffocating me and with everything that just happened was only making it worse " Okay breathe, look at me breathe " Uma said calming down to where I could catch my breath " I'm really sorry I didn't know that Mal or Ben were planning on closing the barrier for good. They didn't tell me anything, honestly You have every right to be mad and disappointed we obviously lied to you and neither of you deserved that. In my opinion everyone on that island deserves a better life and it's not fair that you lied to just so you would help us " I said my voice cracking slightly my emotions still taking control of every function in my body. Uma hugged me as Harry patted my back with a small smile " Thank you Phoenix, Janis was right you have your father's heart and mother's compassion" she whispered before pulling away from me " I guess Janis done her research on my family " I said rolling my eyes knowing that she probably only did that so she would know how to take me down.

We walked further not bothering on turning back, well that was until we heard Mal's voice calling after us " Uma! Phoenix! " Mal yelled while running towards us " I need your help, We have a chance if we do it together " she said stepping in front of us looking at me with a pleading, apologetic look as I looked away " Your friends kick you to the curve...Good! " Uma said crossing her arms over her chest obviously not wanting to hear what Mal had to say " Uma, Ben saw something in you and today I saw it too. You care, Uma you care about everybody. Auradon is worth saving, Help us, Please. " she said before turning to me " Phoenix, don't you want to save Auradon. Your people? Your parents? " she said as I looked up at her flames hidden behind my eyes " Mal, I do want to save Auradon and my parents, but We can't just abandon people or lie to people so we can achieve our goals. We can't put ourselves we have to thing about others. As Queen you're ruling over everybody in Auradon...Every kingdom and every citizen including the ones on that Island they're your people too whether or not you want to accept them and as their Queen you can't lie or betray them...You can't break your promises to them just because you're in power " I said truthfully crossing my arms wanting to walk away as Harry bowed his head " You talk pretty, but they already made up their mind " he said as Uma looked at Mal " You brought this on yourself Mal. You figure out how to fix it " Uma told before we all started walking away " Phoenix, Please don't do this....if you won't do this for me do it for Carlos. Audrey, she got to him....she got to all of them " Mal said catching my attention as I turned around getting a little irritated " You're lying, please tell me you're lying " I said my voice filling with panic " I'm not lying...I'm sorry you can go look for yourself " she said as I looked away filling the breath being sucked out of my lungs.

Mal walked closer to me grabbing my hand, but this time I didn't pull away...I couldn't I was frozen with shock not knowing " I know you love him and he loves you more than any word could ever describe. Anyone could see that the two of you complete each other. You have to help me or you'll never see him again because Audrey won't turn him back just for you " She said as I turned away feeling tears prick my eyes again " I'm sorry Mal, I want to be with him...I want to help you but I want to be with him....He's my flashlight in the darkness, he helped me through the dark times I want to be with him even if he is stone " I said pulling away running back through the woods trying to fight back my tears. I gasped covering my mouth as I walked towards the stone statues that used to be my friends and my loving boyfriend. I placed a hand on my boyfriend's stone hand tears streaming down my face. Dammit! Why Audrey has to ruin everything just so she can be the centered of the attention?! I sighed humming to myself before that humming turned into singing.

I placed my hand on Carlos's stone face letting the last bit of lyrics slip from my lips. This birthday was a complete disaster the only thing that made it better was Carlos proposing to me a moment I will never forget. No doubt Mal was done battling Audrey at this moment. Suddenly I felt a hand caress my cheek " Hey, What's the matter baby? " Carlos's voice rang through causing me to look up. I smiled before jumping into his arms " Omg I thought I lost you " I said kissing him passionately as he held me tightly while I leaned more into his embrace taking in his familiar scent " Are you okay? " Evie asked concern lacing her voice as I looked to Carlos " I'm fine now that I have the love of my life beside me " I said as Carlos chuckled before placing a kiss on my engagement ring before we all went to find Mal, Uma, and Harry.
