Him & I - Nick Mara

Chapter 9

It had been a week and a half since Nick's birthday and our relationship discussion. We've been real flirty and stuff, and we kiss occasionally, but we haven't become anything officially.

I was currently upstairs in my room with Maggie helping me pick out an outfit for Nick and I's date tonight. "So is he gonna ask you to be his girl tonight or what?" She asked. "I don't know. We've been back and forth about it this week but, neither one of us has done anything about it." I said.

"Well, you better not ask him to be your boyfriend. He needs to be a man and ask you himself." She said. "Ha! You haven't been around Nick long enough. He's definitely bold enough to ask me out. We just have to wait and find out when he's gonna do it." I said.

"Where are y'all going tonight for your date?" Maggie asked. "I have no idea. He didn't tell me anything about it, he just texted me and hour ago and told me to be ready by 6, and to wear something fancy." I said.

"Ooo must be nice. Me and Brandon's first date was technically a house party." She said laughing. "Well Brandon loves you. I would trade a fancy date for that any day." I said.

She didn't respond. She just sat there with a look of pure love on her face. I knew they would last for a long time. That's what I hoped to have some day.

I decided that I would wear my prom dress that I never got to wear. A lot happened that night, but I didn't wanna think about it right now. It was time for me to get dressed cause nick would be here any minute.

Jada's Dress

After I got dressed, Maggie did my makeup, and then she had to leave because she was going to the movies with everyone else. I was the only person left at the house while I waited for Nick. After thirty minutes of waiting, I decided to call Nick and see what was up. I didn't want to FaceTime home because it would ruin the surprise of my outfit.

Phone Call

Hey what's up?

Nothing much. I was just calling to see if you were on your way because I've been waiting on your for almost an hour.

Yeah I'm on the way. I'm sorry for taking so long. I had to check on some stuff.

Oh okay. I'll see you in a few then.

End of Call

It was kind of weird that he wasn't specific about what he was doing but, I wasn't gonna be nosy. It's not like we're together.

Ten minutes later I hear keys in the door so, I assume that it's Nick. When he was walks in, I have nothing to say. I am literally speechless. He looks so handsome in his tux. I've never seen him dress so fancy so this is a first.

Nick

"Wow you look handsome." I said. "I look like nothing compared to you." He said. "Thanks I guess." I said blushing. He walked up to me and grabbed my chin gently so I was looking at him. "I mean it. You look beautiful Jada." He said. Which made me blush even harder.
I leaned in and kissed him. "Okay stop it. Your gonna make me all shy." I said and nudged him away. "You ready to go?" I asked. "Yeah hold on. I have to do something first.

He ran upstairs and came back down with a black box. "Here." He said. "Why would I want a box Nick?" I asked, because it looked like just a plain box. "Just open it smart ass." He said, so I sat down and put the box on the table.

I opened the box, and a layer piped out with pictures of us together. I've seen these all over Instagram but, I've never had one. This was so sweet. Each new layer had more pictures of us from when we first met. My favorite was when Nick surprised me on Valentine's Day, the week after my boyfriend broke up with me, and he knew I was lonely. He came to my house with a giant bear and my favorite candy.

Before I knew it, I had started crying. "Don't cry baby." Nick said. "It's okay. I'm just crying because I'm happy. "No one has ever done something like this for me." I said. "Well get used to it." He said, and pulled me in for a hug. "Okay now keep opening it cause it has one more slide.

I opened the last little box, and in it was Nick's name on a gold plated necklace with a note attached to it.

I know it's nothing special but, I've cherished you since the day that I met you. You've been the best thing in my life, and I never wanna loose you. You've always been my best friend and life line and now I want you to be something more. Jada Elizabeth Taylor....

"Oh my goodness Nick!" I said and hugged him. "Is that a yes?" He asked. "Of course it is." I said. "I leaned in and kissed him passionately. It seemed like everything I wanted in life was happening right now.

"Can you put my necklace on for me?" I asked him. "Of course." He replied. I gave him the necklace and turned around and held my hair up so he could clasp it. He clipped it on, and lightly kissed my shoulder.

I turned around so I could look at him. He was so handsome. I don't know what I did to deserve him, but I knew I was lucky, and he needed to know that.

"I love you." I said.

Everything stopped all of a sudden, and he just stood there with his mouth open slightly. "It's okay if you don't say it back. I just thought you should know it." I added.

"Jada Taylor. The fact that you think I need time to think about this, just makes me love you more because you're willing to wait for me to say it. I've loved you since the day I met you. I thought I made that clear. I loved you then, and I love you now." He said.

I brushed his cheek and looked at him in his eyes. "That's all that matters then." I said.
