I was sitting on the table texting Hanna where we were. But I felt like I didn’t trust her, I felt like she was gonna tell Caroline where we were. Nathan was sitting on the other side of the table while Asteria was taking a shower. It was pretty creepy sitting on the table in the presidential suite with Paige’s best friend.

Nathan was writing something on a piece of paper.

“If you’re smart, solve this”

It was a short equation saying:

‘128√e980’

I’m really not that good at math, I hated that subject. My math teacher was my father’s secretary before; since my dad died she resigned and went to teaching which I’m also there. She always hated me, Hanna and my mum.

“Maybe later”

I slid the paper in my pocket and went back to my phone.

His soft eyes were focused on me; his brown hair was blowing a little bit. That equation was a bit different; I’ve never seen an equation like that. It was a bit hard to actually know what kind of equation that was.

Awkward silence filled the atmosphere; yes it was awkward because Nathan was with us. He was the one that didn’t like silence. A beautiful melody from the music room rang to the bedroom.

“Did you hear that?”

“Nathan’s playing the piano”

We ran to the music room and listened to a song he had written again, he started writing choruses or maybe verses of a song, but he never finished them. He sang his song beautifully and ended after a sudden thirty seconds.

“Maybe you should record a video of you and post it on YouTube, you’ll be a sensation”

“No. It’s not worth sharing”

“We think it is”

He went to the bathroom and took a shower, I looked at Asteria and she gave me a small shrug.

“That’s what the song writer thinks”

I went to the bedroom and lay back on the bed beside Asteria. There was a single bed on the left which separated the two of us from Nathan.

It was hard to fall sleep from all the thoughts and worrying I’ve been thinking about Caroline tracking the two of us down.

Nathan was looking at the ceiling which had a chandelier in the middle. He turned to me and stood up.

“Can we talk in the balcony?”

I followed him to the balcony and sat down on the beach chair while watching the busy streets of Abbeydale.

“What did you wannna talk about?”

He took out a folded paper from his pocket and handed it to me. A small paper crane was placed on the palm of my hands.

“It’s beautiful”

“It took me hours to fold those but it paid off”

“Don’t worry, its perfect”

I went out the bathroom with Nathan sitting on the table, Asteria went in the bathroom while I was sitting beside Nathan and brushing my hair.

“What are you doing?”

“Writing a new song, I don’t get the meanings of the others”

The door burst open revealing Caroline with some people that doesn’t look familiar to me. They ran towards me and Nathan and grabbed me still facing Nathan. The other one did it to him until the two of us were facing each other.

“How did you know where we were?”

“Paige’s phone, last night I heard her calling someone and I checked it. And I saw your name on it; I called some of my friends to actually help me track you down. It was pretty easy, also it wouldn’t have been that easy if you told me Paige and Caylah was getting close with you”

“Just let us go, you don’t have the rights to send Ellie away”

I turned to Nathan who was looking at her madly.

“Oh. You’re just a boy, you can’t tell me what to do. And her father didn’t even leave a will”

“He shouldn’t have died if he knew that he was gonna die in a car crash. Or did he really die?”

“Stop saying stupid things Nathan, all your saying isn’t real”

There was devastation as she said those words. I was tearing up; I looked down at the ground and let my tears fall.

“Don’t cry Ellie, you’ll see him soon”

The guy whispered in my ear. I punched his stomach and ran to Nathan; he did the same with the man carrying him.

“Oh, you’re pretty stubborn huh? We don’t like stubborn children”

A negative feeling climbed all the way up inside me. His arms were wrapped around my shoulder. Caroline approached the two of us; her face had a mean look. The same guys stood up and grabbed the two of us; I kept kicking my feet and shaking my head just to get away. I felt his fingers on my neck and all I remembered was a dark surrounding.

It was hard to describe how I felt a bit awkward while he put those fingers around the side of my neck; of course it was a drug. It would last for five or more hours.

*The Next Day*

I woke up in a violet wallpapered room, my clothes were different, but a folded piece of paper was on the nightstand. I opened it and saw the equation Nathan gave me written on it, the paper crane sitting beside it. I walked to the door and saw a guy at the age of twenty or so.

“Who are you?”

“I’m your new brother, Tom”

My hand trembled and my eyes were tearing up. It couldn’t be possible, I wasn’t sent to another family right?

“Where’s Nathan?”

“Oh he’s back in Abbeydale, we’re in Bolton now”

That morning was the last time I saw Nathan Sykes. The boy that meant so much to me, it can actually fool me if he’s ever hurt. Nathan was like the string of life; if he’s ever hurt it would hurt me. My tears were balls of fire burning my skin.

Nathan was everything. He was the hand that held my world. His voice kept playing on my mind while I was crying on the bed. My stomach was twisting but still Nathan was on my mind.

My experience with Nathan was one of a kind. It was so unique. We were hiding from the world, dreaming of each other in the same room. I watched him cry in his sleep. I heard his voice in my dreams. We never had a chance together; we talk to each other at night.

So I called this experience: Silenced by the Night.
