Chapter 24: Rumble and gun shots

Piper's POV

I was sitting on top of the table talking to Ponyboy while he did the dishes. "So there I was in the ally with three other social outcast, and you what the best thing to be at a time like that?" I said.

"Uh a judo expert?" he answered "what? no!" wired kid very wired. "Another social outcast" I told him he got two eggs when the door swag open "don't slam it!" I called out and they still slammed it. It was two bit and Steve. Two bit hugged pony shaking him like he was a Rag doll.

Pony dropped the eggs. One flying to the ceiling and the other one hitting the clock. "Geez two bit at least let me put the eggs down first" pony said "sorry just miss ya, kid" two bit said. I got on a chair with a rag to clean the egg up.

"Careful there Piper" Steve said "yeah yeah" I rolled my eyes. I cleaned the egg off the clock and I tried to clean the rest that was on the ceiling. I was on one leg when I fell. I closed my eyes tight and when I realized I wasn't falling anymore I opened my eyes.

I looked to see I was in someone arms, I looked up to met Johnny's dark brown puppy dog eyes, I smiled. "Nice catch" two bit said he put me down "thanks" I smiled at him the egg that was on the ceiling fell on his head.

I hold in a laugh unlike the guys who laughed at him. He looked at me "it was two bit's fault" I said putting my hands up "fair enough" two bit shrugged "I was going to the hospital to see dal if anyone of you want come" two bit said. "I'll come" I said.

I sat on top of the table cleaning the egg off of Johnny's hair. "I'll come too" Johnny said "I'll ask Darry if I can come" pony said getting more eggs. I took the eggs from him "you are no longer are trusted with eggs" I told him. "Oh come" he wined.

"No" I poked his nose. A thought came into my head "shot I forgot get Lizzy!" I ran out the house running to Mrs. Green's house and getting the kids. I took them inside "about time you got us" liz said climbing on to the couch.

"I'm sorry"

"I'm hungry" Danny said "here cake" I gave him some I had some. "I'm good on cake. For once I feel like I'm gonna be sick from to much cake" Danny said.

"Come on let's go to the DX" I sighed.

I was sitting on a hood of a car drinking some beer when Milk came over to me. "What ya want now?" I asked "I want you come back with me back to New York back home" he begged. "No" I said taking another slip of my beer.

"Oh come on you don't think of this place as a home or like anyone here" he laughed "actually I do I like people here and I like living here" I laughed smiling meaning what I said. "Plus I have someone I actually love here and I'm not giving that up" I added.

"Now that's a lie you never loved anyone, well except-"

"I swear if you say you I'll beat ya"

"So you never once liked me not even for a moment?" he asked grinning. "Okay yes I liked you but that doesn't mean I still do" I answered angrily.

"So what happened? why you so mad at me? I don't know what I did wrong to you" he said softly "I just needed get away from the big city and find my brother still awhile and then..." I tailed off. The wind picked up blowing my hair from behind me I put some hair behind my ears so it wouldn't be in my face.

"Then what?"

"Then I find out the rest as I go"

Dallas was yelling at a nurse as we walked in. "Just get out, just get out you make me sick!" he yelled at her then swear. "Hey dally" Johnny said softly "hey how ya doing?" he smiled. "We'er doing alright, hey how your arm?" Ponyboy said he shrugged "how your burns?" he asked me. I pulled up my sleeves to show my burn marks.
