Chapter 22

Piper's POV

Ugh! Where are they?! I thought thinking about Johnny and Ponyboy. "Mommy am I starting school?" Lizzy asked acting cute. I smiled putting her on my lap "Lizzy" I started "you really want go to school and that's good but maybe you'll just have to wait in till next year" I told her.

"Please mommy" she begged "Lizzy I thought I told you no means no" I said. "Mommy I wuv you" she said in a small child's voice, saying 'I love you' wrong in a cute way. "Fine fine I'll go talk to the school with Meg" I gave in "yay!" she cheered. "Now go play and remember the rules" I said putting her down. She thought for a moment.

"Umm don't have the cops into this and never leave a man behind also no that's all I think" she smiled. "Good and be back later" I pat her head she ran out the door. Sodapop walked in "hey Piper" he said "hey soft drink" I tressed "please don't" he begged.

"Sorry, so what's on your mind?" I asked him as he sat down next to me. "I really miss ponyboy" he sighed "yeah I miss teasing little kid plus Johnny..." I tailed off. "Yeah don't tell the gang but Sandy moved away" he said Sandy was his girlfriend she was an okay girl.

"Oh man I'm sorry" I patted him on the back he told me all about what happen I tried to cheer him up but I'm better at hurting people then making them feeling better.

"Look I gotta go" he said "okay and hey uh soda don't worry I'm sure they're fine" I told him making him smile. Lizzy walked in all coved in mud smiling "Lizzy" soda said. "Yeah uncle soda?" she asked "your dirty" he said dryly but not in a bad way just he said it with no real feeling to it.

"I was playing football with some 7 year olds it was a lot of fun" she smiled. "I'm just happy you don't want play with dolls as a kid I bit off their heads" I said. "You were one messed up child" soda said "that sounds fun!" Lizzy spoke up "so is she and I'm leaving" soda walked out "get the dolls" I said.

~~~First Day Of School~~~

Lizzy's POV

"You okay?" Piper asked me, I pulled my backpack closer to me. "I'm okay" I sighed smiling. "Hey, I got your back" Danny said to me "alright we'll be back later" Meg said "okay bye" Danny took my hand. "Ready?" he asked me.

I took a deep breath then out, smiling.

"Ready"

We walked in. So far so good. "Good day students" the teacher smiled half way though the class I put my hand up.

"Is the answer 26?" I said "very good Lizbeth" she wrote it down. "It's easy really" I said "now now Lizbeth it's not like you know the square root divided by pie" she joked. I put my hand up again "Is it √A/π and, without the value of A, there is not any simpler answer." I answered it was easy I did the math in my head, like Ponyboy showed me.

"T-that's right" she was shocked, she cleared her throat and continued with the lesson. The other kids kept giving me notes saying mean things. Outside time came, about time I was going crazy locked up in that class room.

"Haha check out the new nerd" some girl laughed talking about me. "I hear she adopted" another said "hey don't worry about them" Danny told me. They walked over to us "hey there freak" she said, I was upset.

"I'm not a freak" I said to them "oh I'm sorry...your a nerdy adopted freak" she laughed. "Just because your dumb and I'm not doesn't make me a nerd it just means your to stupid to understand and yes I may be adopted but my parents wanted me your parents were stuck with you and I'm not a freak if anything you are with all that make up on your face, you look like you used crayons plus you're five" I sassed her.

She walked away upset. "Way to go Lizzy" Danny laughed "haha yeah" I sighed. We started to walk when we found a nice place to relax and watch the sky. "Its pretty, the sky" Danny said, I watched with him, smiling.
