DJ's POV

I was awake when Johnny had walked into the kitchen, he still looked sleepily.

"Hey sleepily head" I greeted him "hey" he yawned "mind waking dally up? Just knock on his door as loud as you can in till you hear him fall off his bed" I asked. "Oh yeah sure" he walked out.

I put on my boots and my jacket putting my brass knuckles in the pocket. I could hear dally fall off his bed with a loud cuss word following.

"It's to early for cussing!" I called out to him, he yelled another cuss just to see if it get me mad. He always likes to test the limits with me, he always likes to see how far he could push in till I yell at him or what he can and can't do and how many times he can and can't do it.

Both soon walked in and we went to the Curtis house. I was talking to them.

"So you mean to tell me that your parents beat you? And you don't tell no body?" I asked Johnny. "There ain't nothin we can do, without getting me sent to a boys home" he said quietly his fits in his jacket pockets.

"Well you our door always open for ya and the Curtis' to, you know that" dally said lighting a cigarette, "you got that right" I said putting my arms around the both of them happily smiling.

As we walked as I saw a little boy in an alley, that looked to be maybe 11-12. I stopped walking over to him, as Johnny and dally kept walking not knowing I stopped. I walked over to the sniffling little boy with big brown eyes like Johnny's that are full of tears.

"Hey kid, you okay?"

He looked up at me. He didn't say anything. "Do you need help?" I asked. Nothing. "I want help you, I really do, but I can't if you don't tell me what's wrong" I told him sincerely.

"Why?" He asked softly "why help some kid on the street you don't even know?"

"Why not?"

"Everyone sees me and just gives me a dollar or something, then runs away"

I sat down next to him "well here" I handed him 5 dollars "it's not much but hopefully it'll do."

"Thank you" he hugged me, I was shocked but hugged back. After talking for while I ruffled his hair and told him to be good as he waved goodbye.

He a good kid. You don't find many of those around here. To bad this town is to tuff and rough for good kids, only make them go just as tuff and rough.

Not only here. They got it in small towns and big cities.

They did it to me, dally, and anyone I ever met as a kid, and every in between.

Only if there was some kind of golden kid. One that no matter how bad things get he doesn't. I wonder what he look like or what his name is or how old he is or what's his story and what happen to him or if him is even a him at all.

But that's only showing you much I wonder about things, things like that.

I had lost dally and Johnny and forgot where the Curtis house was so I just thought I walk around for a bit. I might of walked around for hours in till bumping into a boy around my age.

"Sorry there cutie wasn't looking were I was going, but I'm glad I am now" he said eyeing me with a smile. "Oh and do you use that line on every girl you bump into?" I asked dusting off my jeans. "Only to the pretty ones" he said.

"Oh very smooth" I said crossing my arms and nodded my head. "What's your name?" He asked "Donna"

He put out his hand for a shake, I accepted. "You know your accent sounds awful familiar" he pointed out "it's New York, my brother and I were born and raised there" I stated.
