Yesterday was a day of remembering and a day to celebrate those who sacrifice for us to be safe. My cousin also had her 19th birthday and every year she hates it. We will never forget the day the towers fell and the world will always celebrate the bravery and sacrifice. Amid the chaos, there is always a reason to smile.
Most of the people I know have been through some type of tragedy or know someone who has. We get so caught up in our emotions and lives that we don't see others struggling. Often times come and go and we forget to check on those closest to us. Never forget that those who stand by us experience the storm too. There point of view on the storm may not be the same but they know how you feel and they want to help. I struggle with letting people see my storms and I know they want to help lessen the blows. My whole life I have felt like a burden and I am afraid that is they see the storm they will run the other way.
We all need a support system, no matter how big or how small. Someone to talk to is worth it when you are struggling. Find someone who accepts you and will never judge you for the storms you have weathered. Be the bright beacon you are and those who care will help you navigate the stormy waters.
