All four of them stayed quiet after she spoke these words.
After a while it was the child that broke the silence in the room. ''I'll go grab my stuff and depart at once.'' This took the three others by surprise. The child grabbed the remnants of his cloak and began leaving when his arm was grabbed by the priestess ''How long have you known and how did you fuse with the God of Darkness?'' the frantic way the priestess spoke made clear how urgent his answer was. He breathed in and spoke calmly, but it wasn't his own voice. It was Yami's voice: ''If I may speak for the child and answer these questions. He hasn't known about him being my vessel for much longer than a few days ago, and as to how we fused.'' the god, continuing to speak on behalf of the child who was simply silent. 'In his village he had been abused, both physically and mentally by almost everyone. When he had finally mustered up the courage to escape, he was caught by three of the village's soldiers. I knew the child would perish if I stood idly by, so I fused our souls and took control of him. Ever since that moment we've been fused'' after this the god sighed. ''It's your choice as to whether we're allowed to stay here.'' he exclaimed. After this it was the grand priestess that broke the silence: ''I can see that you fused with the child for reason quite unknown to you Yami.'' ''I don't know why I acted so fast without thinking but I had to do something.'' He responded. ''however, the child wasn't the only vessel I could sense in that village.'' the god stated. This caught the child's attention, but he wanted to talk about it with Yami in private. The child spoke before her mother could: ''mother, perhaps Yami has changed after seeing how some humans can be''. The child spoke again, with his own voice this time: 'I will make a promise to both myself and to everyone here. I will change how the world thinks of Yami for the better''. After this the girl, grand priestess and priestess left the room, so he could grab his clothes and meet them in one of the vacant houses in the shrine. The priestess spoke: ''perhaps you could stay here for a while, my child?'' she asked the child. ''that would be nice, Rao.''
A few days passed. Sunny morning in the nearby forest.
The child was alone again, but this time he didn't mind.
''It is about time we talked about this, child. You need to practice fighting.'' The child summoned the blade and began practicing on the wooden targets he had made by himself out of fallen trees. A few hours pass. ''you have gotten better, but I believe it might be better to practice with an actual blade instead of a spiritual one.'' Yami told the child. ''perhaps it would be better to seek out a blacksmith in the nearby town.'' The god proclaimed. The child took a little time to catch his breath and then made his way to the house he was living in. Rao had been absent mostly throughout the day, and today was no exception. The child still had some Yen left from when he escaped from Konohana. To make sure Rao knew that he had gone to the village, he had left a note stating he went to the town.
A while later, in the village near to the Shrine
The village was far bigger and busier than the child had expected. He felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people in the village. This made him even more shy then he was normally. As he made his way through the town, the children from the Shrine recognized him, as well as their parents. ''what is he doing here?'' one asked the others. One of the parents approached the child and asked: ''does Rao know you're here?'' she asked. ''she wasn't around, but I did leave a note saying where I went.'' He responded. He then asked: ''if I could ask, could you point me to the blacksmith in the town?
The parent helped him to the blacksmith and told them to get back to the Shrine as soon as possible.
At the blacksmith, inside the building
The child made his way to the person near the anvil. ''how can I...help you?'' the smith asked the child, confused that the child was here alone. ''I wish to have a blade made, for a friend of mine.'' The child told the blacksmith. The child grabbed a blueprint and began designed a blade. ''I suppose as long as you can pay for it.'' The blacksmith grabbed the design and began working. ''who's the blade for kid? ''whoever this is for, must mean a lot to you'' he stated. ''indeed, it's for a close friend of mine.''
A few minutes later
When the blade had been completed, something seemed strange about it to the blacksmith. ''where did you get this design from, kid?'' he asked the child. ''from a past memory, why?'' he answered. He grabbed a scroll from the bookcase next to him and began shuffling through. When he showed the child the page he remembered the design from, it showed an image of the Great Goddess Amaterasu wielding a similar weapon. The child remained silent until he asked: ''how much do I need to pay?'' to which the blacksmith responded: 20.000¥. The child responded by giving the blacksmith a little bag filled with money: ''this should be enough for the blade.'' After this the child left to go back to the shrine, stating to Yami: ''we should tell her why we went to the town.'' As they went walked back into the shrine, everyone stayed quiet. All except for one person, the Grand priestess. She ran up to the child and embraced them. ''never just leave like that again, my child'' the priestess spoke to the child. He responded: ''you weren't around, and I did leave a note stating I left for the village.'' The priestess noticed the blade the child was carrying and seemed perplexed at the design of the blade. ''how did you acquire one of the divine blades carried by the goddess Amaterasu?'' she proclaimed. ''is that why everyone remained quiet when I came back?'' he asked. ''this blade is shown to be one of the blades carried by her, throughout her adventure. Well if only it's the design, but I feel a strange power emanating from that blade.'' She said. The child asked: ''would it be alright if I practice with it?'' to which the priestess responded: ''as long as you make sure to be careful child.''
A few minutes later, in the garden of the shrine.
The child had resumed his previous training with his newly forged blade in hand. The targets he had made fell one by one until there were none left. ''You are improving vastly, child.'' Yami commented after having seen the fallen targets. ''but the wooden targets won't feel the same as actual people'' He continued.'' I noticed there was an old training camp near the shrine when we first came here. Perhaps it would be better to practice on the targets that are there'' he stated.
Thirty minutes later, after having found the forgotten training grounds
The sound of metal clanging against metal sounded strange to the child as he had never actually heard the noise. But he had been practicing for a half hour for now, and finally began noticing that he had vastly improved compared to the state he had been in when he had begun training. As he was lost in his thoughts, his trail of thoughts was broken when he heard thunder strike nearby. This was something that had always scared him, since he had been casted out of his family on the night of thunderstorm. But this thunderstorm sounded far closer than it should have been for the intensity of the noise. He decided to ignore it for now and continue training. A few minutes passed until the lightning struck again, far closer this time, but he didn't notice until it was too late. As the blade met the metal once again, he was struck by the lightning and felt his body simply dropping to the floor as a response. When he woke up, he noticed something strange: he had no wounds on his body at all, but more importantly then that, something was producing an intense light nearby. Despite his godly-half screaming to not go near whatever it was, he ignored it and went to look. When the light finally subsided, he could finally make out what it was: his blade had been changed by some godlike powers. Which powers he did not know, though he didn't care. As he gripped the hilt of the blade, he felt something strange about it. Yami finally broke the silence: ''it seems some godlike presence has possessed the blade and bound itself with it.''
Despite the change the blade had gone through it still felt and was the same as the previous blade in weight. They heard nearby voices and knew that those must have been the priests from the shrine thinking the goddess blessed them with a miracle. They hid the blade which mentally unto which both had decided a name:
The Blade of Yatagarasu
