A boy is seen on the swing set. He takes a sip of the slowly cooling coffee in his hands as he sways himself slightly.
He sighs, the puff of air exiting his mouth as proof that he was still indeed breathing. Things haven't really been that good on his end.
His brother had finally moved out of his home, living with his girlfriend of 3 years. His cousin, Urata, had started working recently and could hardly find the time to communicate with him. His parents weren't really home as much anymore.
One of his best friends are about to leave soon, too. He met up with him earlier before stopping by the playground to have some time to breathe.
'I won't forget you and your stupid brown head covered in hair spray and pins.' He joked.
'I won't forget that white mop of hair of yours, either. We'll meet again.' He smiled.
It's weird, he thought. Throughout everything that had happened the past few months, the only source of warmth he has now is the can of black coffee in his hands.
He chuckled lightly.
A sudden sound of someone clearing their throat had surprised him, causing him to look up. It was a familiar person.
He bobbed his head in respect. "Soraru-san."
The dark-haired male nodded in response before pointing at the empty swing beside him. "Is it taken?"
He shook his head. Soraru had a faint smile before settling beside him.
He looked up, the colors of orange and purple mixing together with puffy swirls of white.
"The sky looks so pretty, doesn't it?"
He looked towards his seatmate whose head is hanging low.
He stopped swinging, giving him a smile. He can feel the emotion coming from him without even having to ask. He looked down to his coffee once again. It turned cold as they both sat in silence.
"You're lonely too, huh?"
Soraru nodded. He gave him a small sideways glance before looking down again. "I heard Amatsuki is leaving. Are you alright, Mafu?"
He was about to say that he is, but gave a small laugh through his nose. "I will be okay with time."
Another silence had filled the space, and the purple-orange mixture had been overtaken by a deep blue with white specks of different sizes.
But even though the sky's color changed, even though the people in their lives have come and had gone, they still found each other again.
"Y'know," The white-haired male started. "Even though our friendship had stopped for a while, I wouldn't mind starting it again."
The dark-headed male blinked. "..We can be lonely together."
"That's right."
There was nothing between that had happened. One day, they both just stopped talking. No matter how close they were, that day came and they just suddenly forgot that each other had existed.
Mafu reached his hand out to his side. "Let's be lonely together, okay?"
Soraru looked to his hand, and then to him. He gives him a smile before reaching out and hold his hand.
"Okay."
