~Mia~
My eyes shot open and I started coughing and breathing heavy.
I quickly look around at my surroundings. White walls, a bed, medical equipment... I'm in the hospital.
Mom and Zach...
"Mia, you're okay. Just relax, sweetheart. It's okay." My mom said as she walked over beside my bed and brushed the hair out of my face. I was so happy to see her but I couldn't slow down my breathing.
"Zach, go find the doctor please." Mom said and Zach quickly ran out of the room.
"Mom," I started but my eyes started filling with tears and I couldn't get anymore words out.
My mom started crying as soon as she saw my tears. "Oh, Mia." She hugged me so tight that it hurt. My entire body was aching in pain but I didn't care. I didn't want her to let go.
"I thought I was gonna lose you." Mom said then let go of me and wiped away my tears.
I looked over and saw a male doctor walk into the room and Zach walking in behind him.
"Hi, Mia, I'm Dr. Baker. Your brother said you were having trouble breathing."
"I was but I'm okay now." I said. I looked over at Zach. It's been so long and I thought I would never see him again or mom. I'm still in shock from everything that's happened in the last few days.
"Alright, well, we'll check your vitals again, but how are you feeling?" The doctor asked me.
"Really tired. And everything hurts." I tried to laugh but my ribs hurt too much.
"Well, you had surgery yesterday to safely remove the knife out of your stomach. We thought you might bleed to death before the surgery but you were lucky. You also have three broken ribs, your neck is swollen, and you got a lot of stitches from several deep cuts all over your body. You're definitely going to be in quite a bit of pain for awhile." The doctor explained.
My head was spinning just from listening to all of that. I'm not getting out of here for awhile apparently.
"We have you on pain meds, but if it's not enough we can give you a higher dosage."
"No, it's okay. I can take it." I said then took at deep breath, trying not to wince in pain.
"She's tough." Zach said, which made me smile.
"Alright, well get some more rest. The nurse will be in later to check your vitals. Let me know if you need anything." The doctor said then left the room.
I looked over at mom and Zach, "how did I survive? The last thing I remember is being stabbed and then that's it. I thought I was... gone."
"We're just lucky you were found in time. You had police and the FBI looking for you. The guy that kidnapped you was found dead right beside you." Zach explained.
"He was dead?" I asked. I killed him?
"Yeah. That's what they told us. He bled to death apparently." Zach said.
"I think I killed him."
"What? You killed him?" Zach said, surprised.
"I think so. I tried to get away but he came back and I was able to get ahold of one of his knives and I stabbed him. He acted like it was nothing and laughing like it didn't even hurt. Then he stabbed me and that was it. I didn't see him die." I explained.
"Wow. My little sister's a badass." Zach said, then got smacked on the arm by mom.
"Zachary, don't use that language around me please." Mom scolded him just like when we were younger.
"Excuse me, "little sister", we're twins. We're the same age." I said, crossing my arms.
"No, I'm 2 minutes older. Remember?" Zach said, smiling at me.
"Oh, whatever. I hate when you point that out."
"I know." Zach smiled.
Mom laughed at us then sat down in the chair beside my bed.
"The doctor said you need to get some more rest." Mom said.
"Yeah, I'm exhausted." I said as I tried to adjust myself in the bed without hurting my broken body.
"I'm just glad you're okay." Mom said as she rubbed my arm.
"Me too."
I closed my eyes and went back to sleep.
~~~~~
I'm woken up by someone wrapping something around my arm. I open my eyes and look up to see a nurse standing beside my bed.
"Sorry to wake you, I just need to check your blood pressure." The nurse says. I yawn then lay my head back down and close my eyes while I let the nurse do her thing.
"Okay, everything looks good. You can go back to sleep now."
I open my eyes and watch her leave the room, walking past someone standing in the doorway. It's a guy, he looks young.
"Hi, are you here to see Mia?" Mom asks him. She knows him?
"Yeah, actually. Is that okay?" He asks then walks into the room all the way and looks at me.
"Yeah, of course. Are you okay to talk, Mia?" My mom asks me.
"Yeah, but talk about what? Who are you?" I ask, confused.
"I'm actually not here to talk about her kidnapping. There's something else I need to tell her."
"I'm confused." I said. I use my arms to help push myself up and sit up against the bed. I wince in pain.
"Careful, Mia." Mom says, trying to help me.
"What do you need to tell me? Who are you?" I asked, looking up at him.
"My name is Spencer."
