~Mia~

It had been so long since I've seen my brother. I missed him so much every time he went away to college. The last time I saw him was when we took him to the airport three months ago.

My brother and I are twins and he's my best friend. We talk all the time and tell each other everything. It's weird being so far away from each other.

I was currently at my Mom's house visiting her. I haven't seen her in awhile either.

"So when's the last time you talked to your brother?" Mom asked. "Last week. I texted him yesterday and he hasn't responded yet." I said, taking a sip of coffee that Mom made me.

"Oh, that's right. He called me the other day and told me he got a new number." Mom said.

"Why didn't he tell me he got a new number? He tells me literally everything." I said. "I don't know, Mia, but here. I have his new number in my phone." Mom said then handed me her phone.

I looked through her contacts and looked for my brother's number.

"So what are you up to tonight?" Mom asked. "Just homework. I'm so behind on this weeks assignments. It's so overwhelming." I said as I typed the number into my phone.

702-555-0103

"Yes, but as least it's your last year of college, dear." Mom laughed. "It'll be worth it."

"I know, Mom." I handed Mom her phone then finished my coffee. "I'm gonna head home so I can get started."

"Alright. Good luck." Mom said. I gave her a hug and she kissed my cheek.

"Come visit me more often, please." Mom laughed. "I will, Mom." I said as I grabbed my things and walked out to my car.

When I got back to my apartment I took a shower and got into some comfortable clothes. I grabbed my school stuff and sat on my bed.

I stared at my list of assignments and sighed. I grabbed my phone and laid back on my bed. I hated college so much but my mom was right, it will be worth it when it's over and it is almost over.

I scrolled through my favorites list, looking for my brother's name, then hit the call button.

I listened to it dial three times before he picked up.

"Hi, this is Dr. Spencer Reid. I actually can come to the phone right now, with a very special message that your mother is a—"

"Sorry... wrong number" I said then quickly hung up the phone and sat up.

I was so embarrassed and confused, I had no idea what just happened. I looked back down at my phone and read the number that my mom gave me. This couldn't be right. That was not my brother.

I called my Mom to see if she had the right number.

"Hello?"
"Hey, Mom. Can you give me Zach's number again. I don't think I have the right one."
"Sure. Give me one second... Okay, here it is, 702-555-0102"
I groaned.
"Everything okay?"
"I put the wrong number in my phone. Well, just one digit was off. Anyway, thanks."
"You're welcome. Bye, I love you."
"I love you too."

I hung up then changed the last digit from a three to a two and tried calling again.

"Hello?"
"Zach?"
"Hey, Mia."
"Why didn't you tell me you changed your number? You told Mom but not me?"
"Sorry, I never got around to it. I've been busy with school and work."
"Too busy for me?"
Zach groaned. "Well-"
"I'm kidding, Zach. Of course I know you're busy. You're in med school. So how's everything going?"
"Fine. Just a lot to do. How about you?"
"Same. A lot of homework. I just had something really embarrassing happen though."
"What? What happened?" Zach laughed.
"Well Mom gave me your new number and I typed it wrong so when I called it I called someone else, obviously, but when he picked up he was like yelling at me. It was so weird. And really awkward."
"What? Did you know him?"
"No."
"What was he yelling about?"
"I don't know. Something about someones mom. But he obviously thought it was someone else. I don't know, it was just really weird."
"That's hilarious."
"Yeah cause everything that happens to me is hilarious, Zach."
"Yeah, it is. But anyway, I have to go. I'm hanging out with some friends tonight. I'll text you later, okay?"
"Okay. Bye."
"Bye."

Zach and I hung up and I finally started some homework.

I could not stop thinking about that first phone call. I even remember his name. Spencer Reid. Wait, no. It was Dr. Spencer Reid. So he's a doctor, maybe?

For some reason I kind of wanted to call him again, just to see what would happen. I don't know. Why couldn't I stop thinking about it?

After about an hour of doing homework and still thinking about that phone call, I was ready to go to bed. I put my stuff on the floor and got under my covers.

I was about to turn my lamp off when I heard a clicking sound from outside my window. I decided to ignore it so I turned my lamp off.

I heard it again a few minutes later. And then again right after. I was starting to get creeped out now.

I quickly got up and shut my curtains then got back in bed and went to sleep...
