Tap. Tap. Tap.
The pencil hit against the sheet of paper that was resting on a tripod music stand. Blazing blue eyes glazed over the music notes in thought, a soft melody blurring her mind out of focus.
Forty-year-old, Katherine Walker was lost in her writing, the lyrics to the song she wrote didn't seem to match up to the beat. Her name was no longer Katherine Walker but now, Katherine Denbrough. Her surname changed due to Katherine marrying her childhood love, William 'Bill' Denbrough at age twenty-two, shortly after the pair graduated college. She pursued a career in music sixteen years ago when she was signed to a record label for her many musical talents other than singing and dancing: she knew how to play guitars-both acoustic and electric, drums, piano, saxophone, violin, trumpet (but she hardly ever used the last two when it came to her own written songs). Her stage name-the name her fans call her: Katy Angel.
"Penny for your thoughts, Katy?" Dominic Brown, her music composer questioned, seeing Katherine's zoned out look.
Katherine peered up at him at this through the glass of the recording studio. "Just have many things on my mind," she answered.
"Like?" Dominic trailed off, anticipating for an explanation.
"Like these melodies and beats. I just don't think they match well with my lyrics," she said, putting her pencil down and shifting the written words towards her.
"Trust me, Katherine. They match your lyrics," Dominic replied, firmly. "The moving rhythms match the pain shared in words." Katherine looked down at his words. "Speaking of, are you sure you and Bill are okay?"
Katherine instantly nodded at his words. "Absolutely. I just...I dreamt of this and the bad feeling I felt. I only held onto it because it might be something many women around the world can only feel when their significant other leaves and you just...miss him so much."
That was ninety percent truthful. The reason why she composed her nightmare into song was the reason she felt like this could've happened to Bill and her after a bad argument they had in their college years. She didn't understand why she redreamt that episode but she couldn't forget the bad feeling she had. She hasn't felt this bad about something since...she couldn't remember.
"Okay, well, let's run it back," Dominic replied as Katherine placed on the studio's headphones before playing the tune he created to the song 'Always Remember This Way'.
She tried to get into the song but Katherine felt like it was forced. She thought the song should be much slower than what Dominic thought captured 'raw emotion'. Nevertheless, she placed her best energy into the song, as she began the first verse.
"You look at me and, babe, I wanna catch on fire
It's buried in my soul like California gold
You found the light in me that I couldn't find..."***
After that lengthy morning, Katherine had to move onto the Warner Bros. set nearby to continue shooting for a movie. More specifically, the movie adaption for her husband's book. She got the part for the lead female role, fortunately, knowing that Bill and she would be working together on a project so she vowed to make Bill proud which, he already was.
It wasn't her first role as an actress. She became a reaccuring character alongside her co-star, Evan Peters, in the show, American Horror Story, and also got cast as Harley Quinn for the film Suicide Squad which was like Avengers but for DC villains. Luckily, she got her most dangerous stunts out of the way because she's been feeling sick lately.
She had exited from the wardrobe department and walked to the soundstage, eating small foods from craft services. Jack, the director, told her that the script Bill wrote was great but the ending was terrible. She did agree that the ending could be better but she wasn't going to tell her husband that.
