After the five hour flight, they arrived in Derry at 6 pm that day. Once they arrived at the airport in Derry, they dropped their stuff off at the Derry Town House. Then, together they went drove to the restaurant. Through the anxious car ride, Katherine held onto her husband's hand.
Bill immediately comforted her when he drove past the street Katherine use to live on. Bad memories of her mother and boyfriend flashed through her mind.
And the promise she made to herself. To never neglect or abuse her future child. She kept it. Peter was loved and cared for unlike Katherine and Bill in their younger years.
They were nothing like their own parents.
Katherine licked her lips anxiously as she and Bill walked hand in hand in the Chinese restaurant, Jade of the Orient.
If Mike called them, then the others had to come as well, right? Ben, Beverly, Richie, Stanley and...Eddie. Eddie Kaspbrak. The boy she looked after growing up, the boy who was like the little brother she never had. She missed him terribly. And she was only thinking of him now. She was a bad friend...
Katherine's legs felt frozen as she walked into the warm, welcoming restaurant.
She clung to Bill's hand, taking deep breaths.
"Are you okay?" Bill asked her.
"It feels like I'm walking down the aisle again," Katherine answered.
"Kat, hey," Bill cupped her face. "It's okay."
"I'm scared they won't see me as their friend. I mean, we haven't seen them since the wedding except for Beverly-"
"Kat, you know our friends always have loved you just as much as do. And if I still love you, they will too."
"And do you still love me?" Katherine asked.
"I always have," Bill answered, kissing her forehead which made her smile.
A woman approached the counter. "How can I help you?" she asked the couple.
Bill turned to her. "Hi, Mike Hanlon's party," he told her.
"Right this way," she told them. With her hand, interlocked with Bill's, they followed her into another part of the restaurant.
Bill almost tripped as they stepped down a step to which Katherine held back a chuckle and told him, "Careful."
"Here you are," the woman showed them to a large round table.
"Thank you," Katherine told her.
"Hey," someone spoke from the corner making the Denbrough's jump.
"Oh, f-" Bill uttered. Mike approached them. "Mike you look good." Mike pulled the man in a hug which caught Bill off guard but he hugged back. "Mike, how are you doing?"
Mike looked at Katherine. "Hi, Mikey," she greeted as the man pulled her in a tight hug as well.
He pulled back to look her over. He's seen her many times on talk shows or in her music videos but up close, he now sees that Katherine (who had always been beautiful) was now drop-dead gorgeous like an all-natural model.
"Katherine, I'm so glad to see you," Mike admits to her. He turned to both Denbroughs. "I didn't know if any of you would...after all this time but of course, you guys came."
"An oath is an oath," Bill answered. "Losers...got to stick together, right?"
"The losers," Mike said excitedly. "You remember that. That's good. What else do you remember?"
