Peter looked up, standing up completely to glance at his surroundings.
He was standing in the middle of the crowd for Carnival Days.
His eyes looked around at the people until finally, his gaze landed on a young boy entering a funhouse.
"Hey, kid!" someone yelled.
Peter saw it was Bill running and pushing through the crowd to get to the boy.
Without knowing the boy, not ever meeting him, he knew that his name was Dean.
But every cell in his body told him to go after the kid.
He took off running into the maze, jumping through the turning entryway.
Peter dodged the swinging clown pillars, stopping in front of a mirror maze.
He tried to walk forward but he ended up hitting more glass. Peter touched everything around him to see if there was a way out.
There wasn't. It was as if he was trapped in a see-through box.
"Damn it," he muttered, slamming his fist against the glass in frustration.
By the entryway near the mirrors, Bill had entered in, running forward once he saw Dean ahead.
"Kid!" he called, only to bump into a mirror so instead he slammed his fist on the glass, hoping to get Dean's attention. "Kid!"
"Dad, that way," Peter pointed out as Bill tried to find a way out.
Bill didn't hear him, only felt his way out before walking a direction away towards Dean, out of Peter's sight.
Peter stopped calling for Bill once he realized that he couldn't be heard.
Peter's eyes scanned his surroundings when he jumped away, his back hit the glass behind him as he saw a long, creepy figure tip-toeing past him.
Peter recognized him as the clown that would haunt his dreams growing up.
Dean came back into Peter's line of sight, practically right in front of him.
"Kid!" Peter heard Bill yell before Bill ran towards Dean only to hit the glass by him with a painful groan which made Dean jump. "Fuck..."
"Dad..." Peter spoke in a fearful tone as he saw the silhouette of the clown behind Bill.
Bill looked to Dean as he tried to rub the pain away, "Hey," he tried to say calmly.
"What are you doing here?" Dean asked.
Bill chuckled. "I'm here to h-h-help."
"Stop following me," Dean told him.
"I'm gonna-gonna get you out of here-"
Bill stopped talking as a squeaking noise behind Dean could be heard.
Dean and Peter backed away as they saw Pennywise the clown dragging his long tongue up the glass.
"No," Bill spoke softly as he knew what was going to happen next. The clown continued to taunt Bill, still dragging his tongue up the glass. "Please..." he begged.
The clown finally pulled his tongue back in.
Peter punched at the glass as he knew what was about to occur just like every nightmare he's had. "Leave him alone!" Peter yelled.
