Goodbye, Cinderella Alternative Ending One: Nagito

A/N: Ooh! What is this? Well, this morning I got up and I thought to myself: 'What if Chiaki chose Nagito? Nagito wanted to be with Hajime? Or all three become one?' Since I don't want to place it in the actual story, I will be placing it here. First up, Chiaki chooses Nagito. I hope you enjoy!

Also, if you haven't read Danganronpa: Beta Memories, you might be confused.

Sitting at the takoyaki booth with Nagito, her heart raced. After that confession, she began to see him in a whole new light. However, she was aware of his 'condition' and how unstable he had become over the last few days.

"Why are you so anxious, Nanami? I thought you liked festivals." He asked her, his grey eyes piercing through her soul. 

"I do." Chiaki fussed, blushing. She knew that it was do or die: time to be straight forward. "I was thinking back to the tower..."

He sighed, making her feel deflated. Tears began to fall as her heart ached.

"You don't see me...as a girlfriend? Then...that confession..." 

"It wasn't a lie." Nagito said in a low voice. "I do like you...a lot." Chiaki looked up in surprise. "I really want to be with you. After that breakdown in the tower, hearing your voice made me feel better."

Nagito placed his hands in her shoulders and she put one hand on top of his. "I am just scared. I mean, you know what I did to Fuyuhiko! He...I couldn't control myself. I don't want to hurt you..."

Chiaki knew his fears well. After all, she was the first person to see his 'other half'. Despite that, he was her first friend on this island and possibly her first crush. Sure, Hajime tried to make her hearts his, but Nagito protected her. A knight in shining armor.

"Nagito..." She hugged him, making him gasp in surprise. She couldn't hold her tears anymore and she sobbed into his shirt. "I don't care about that. We have fought so hard for this long. Why would I give up now? Ever since you gave that confession, you are all I think about now!"

"Wha? Really?" Nagito asked. His heart jumped out of his chest.

"Yes! No matter what happens, I will always be with you!" Chaiki yelled.

"Nanami...look at me." Nagito muttered as he lifted her and wiped the tears off her cheeks. "You...make me so happy. I want you to be my girlfriend."

Chiaki gasped and immediately crashed her lips onto his. Sparks flew in both their minds. So much energy and passion rushed through their veins. After all this time, they felt more alive than ever.

They broke apart and touched foreheads, trying to catch their breaths. They intertwined their fingers together, not wanting to let go.

"Last chance to leave, Nanami. Who knows what will happen." Nagito warned with a flirtatious tone.

"No...never again." Chiaki replied as she sealed the deal with another electric but short kiss. "Just one more thing..."

"Hmm?"

"Can you say my name...my first name...just this once?" She pleaded with big eyes.

He chuckled and he whispered in her ear, "My sweet Chiaki. You are mine...forever."

"Eww. Get a room!" Akane yelled from across the aisle. She and Ibuki were standing, watching the two of them making out. While the latter was smiling, Akane was disappointed with her arms crossed.

"Aw, come on. Young love is rare..." Ibuki sighed. "I might write a song about this."

"Pfft. Whatever." Akane brushed her off. "I am still a Hinanami fan through and through."

Speaking of which, Hajime was standing at a different booth. He was smiling and nodding in approval. 'Good for them...'

Akane saw him and walked over. "Hey man...sorry it didn't work."

"What? You mean Chiaki?" Hajime asked. "Well, it was her choice. Who knows? There are other fish in the sea."

"Oh, sure." Akane said with sarcasm. "Just me and Ibuki. Lots and LOTS of fish."

"I mean, when we get home." Hajime sighed. "God, you're such a pain."

Regardless, everyone had a great time at the festival. Nagito and Chiaki sat under a cherry blossom tree, watching the fireworks display. She laid her head in his shoulder, completely in awe of the lights and sounds. Nagito looked at her with a smile. He couldn't be more happier and he didn't want to hurt her ever again.
