He closed and locked the front door. And then he was on top of me. He had to weigh at least two hundred pounds on that six-foot-frame, and he was smothering me.

He was breathing into my face like a lion, and I was his prey. My dogs came running into the room, thinking it was play time. They barked and scurried about. He just ignored them and pinned me with his knees against the floor.

My mind was experiencing sensory overload. The betrayal was so extreme it was practically giving me an instant migraine.

"Your sister," he breathed into my face, "was not my type, you know. I was waiting for you, watching you, but she came out for a smoke and well sometimes we have to take what we can get. "

"You fuckhead!" I managed to eek out, and then I tried to bite his fucking nose off.

"The cop saw you!" I said.

"So what? My plan is to leave this place anyway. I am tired of this dying city. You are the pinnacle for me. Once I get Billie girl, well that's the top. That's like the American dream. It is all downhill after you. So I think when I am done with you I will just retire. Take some time off."

"Please don't," I pleaded.

"You know it's funny, nobody ever wants to get killed, and yet we think it will always happen to someone else, like prostate cancer for men, or breast cancer for a woman. But now, it's happening to you all right."

I passed out for a second and I saw a flashing image of my Dad. He was reaching out his hand like he was helping me come to him, like he was on a train and he wanted to help me aboard. I reached out to him to take his hand. But then I snapped out of it and I was being dragged by the arms into the living room.

Then mother came down the steps to see what all the commotion was about.
