Chapter 23
LiarI'm in love with this gif 😂
><><"Roger, get out of the way!"
"No." Roger snapped.
Brian furiously hit his fist against the horn, while Roger lay down on the road in front of Brian's car. The loud beep made Roger wince, but he didn't budge from his spot.
"Honestly, darling, what is the point of this?" Freddie sighed nonchalantly as he braided a part of Maya's hair. John, Freddie and Maya sat at a nearby bus bench, awaiting Roger to finish his tantrum.
"It's called a protest." Roger huffed. "I'm taking a stand."
"By laying down?" John noted.
Roger scowled at John.
"Roger, I will run this car right over you if you don't move." Brian leaned out the window, shouting. "I'm not kidding."
"Do it." Roger hissed. "You're not leaving. John, you're not leaving either."
"Rog, for Christ's sake, I have a class to teach in the morning." Brian exclaimed.
"Nobody is leaving until we figure this out, right guys?"
Roger looked over at Freddie and Maya for support. Freddie who was occupied playing with Maya's hair had tuned out. Maya sighed. "I don't know, Roger, I kind of want to just call it a night."
"We can sort this out tomorrow." John reasoned.
Roger wouldn't admit it, but he was slowly giving up. The night air became freezing and he was extremely uncomfortable laying against the concrete road. A long while after their shift at the markets, the band got together at the flat for a short jamming session. However, Roger, who was tired of the slow pace of the band's progression was determined to finish composing a complete set of songs. It had been too long since he had set foot on a stage for a gig.
However the phrase 'nothing happens overnight' was something Roger didn't find so agreeable. The songs that Maya wrote with them were great enough, but they were still indecisive about the sound.
Throughout the day, after the fitting room incident, Maya and Roger hadn't gotten a chance to be alone. They would relish in the brief seconds they could stare at each other without getting caught and the subtle brushing of hands as they'd walk past one another. With Maya coming home from Rosemary's, it dawned on them that they weren't sure how they would handle still living together.
"Um... Maya, what is this?" Freddie asked.
"What?" Maya yawned, wanting the night to come to an end.
While Freddie was playing with her hair, he had moved strands across from her shoulder. It wasn't until she felt Freddie's eyes burn onto her neck that she realised what he was talking about.
