So my idea was put to vote, and surprisingly my idea lost. What is with people and all this melodrama of Romeo and Juliet? I mean, I like that story but well... oh forget there is no point explaining again.Auditions were held on the following day and characters were allotted. Flash became Romeo and Jo Juliet. They really loved playing their parts, and so did everyone else. Well other than Jake who was playing Juliet's father. The thought of white hair and beard made him want to back out. It was hilarious watching him being threatened and blackmailed by Mrs. Gray to play his part and not quit. Peter and I haven't spoken since that day, he didn't try and I didn't force him to. I, having a stage fright, ended up with backstage duties. I was also costume and props in charge and I loved that. Making the props is the best job for me as I love art. Everyone seemed contented with their work and for the next few days everything went smoothly.

One day before the fest...

Me and all the volunteers were at the auditorium, decorating it for the coming fest. Every one loved my ideas and were appreciatng my work.

"Hey Kira!" Zach came up to me, holding a really jumbled collection of lights. "Which one to put?" His blonde hair swept over his eyes, but his hands were too preoccupied to do anything else. He shaked his head, left to right, in an attempt to get his vision freed.

"Such a girl" I laugh, "Um- I think the white ones will look pretty." I said without thinking twice. White is my favorite colour. White this, white that, white everything. Anyone seeing the stage right now could pretty much guess that. He shakes his head, suspecting my answer.

"Hey Zach." Betty said, coming up behind him. "Happy birthday!" She sang wrapping her arms around his neck.

"It's your birthday?" I asked him, surprised. "Happy Birthday!" I wished.

He nodded at the both of us, "Thanks"

I felt really bad for him, it's his birthday and he is here after college hours helping us rather than partying. I bite my lip, wondering what to do. Betty walks away, she has to practice her lines with Flash. Zach too starts to walk away, to put white lights around Juliet's balcony.

"Zach!" I call after him, running to catch up. Not able to think of the right words to say to him, I grab the lights from his hand, he frowns at me confused. "Just go." I say, smiling at him. He's about to argue, but I don't let him "It's your birthday. I'll put up the lights, go!" I laugh as he drops everything in his hands and runs out thanking me. I laugh uncontrollably as he slips a little on his way out. Grabbing my stomach for air, I turn to walk up the stage, and spot Peter staring at me. Slightly flushed, I look down at my feet and continue up the steps. Setting the lights down near the balcony I go in search for a ladder. I pass Peter but don't look at him. He is sticking silver stars on the blue background curtains. Finally putting down the heavy ladder, that I half dragged, half lifted all the way from costume room, I start climbing it. Untangling the lights I start to hang them on the balcony. So engrossed in putting the lights up I don't notice the crowd in the auditorium lessen until it was just Peter, Will and me left. I see Will fall from the corner of my eye, concerned my head snaps to look at him. But the scissor in my hand drops and in reflex I try to catch it. A rush of adrenaline hit me as my leg slipped and I began a downward journey to the hard wooden stage. Everything happened so sudden, that all I could do was close my eyes. Fortunately, I ended up in Peter's arm. I looked at the floor then at Peter surprised by his reflexes. I felt my ears grow red under his gaze. I tried to pull myself out of his arms and stand on my feet, but Peter didn't let go. He hadn't realized I was trying to get out.
