I walk into the hallway filled with kids. Squeezing past them, I try to find my locker before my next class. Which reminds me, I have to search for that too. It's kind of depressing when you don't know where to go.

"Hey girl" Jo says coming beside me.

"Help?" I hand her the piece of paper with my locker details and she leads her way. She gives me the impression of a young, beautiful and confident girl with her black leather jeans and white crop top.

"Here you go." she leans against the neighbouring locker as I struggle to fit my bag in.

"Jo ... " I finally say, ready to ask the question that's been bothering me.

"Yes?" she says, looking up from her phone.

"How do you know Peter?"

"We were in high school together." She says with a shrug.

"And Jake?"

"Jake is my twin brother. Of course we were in the same college" Jo replied in a duh voice.

"Jo ..? " I test cautiously.

"Yes?"

"Is it me, or does Peter seem a little depressed... " I whisper not meaning anyone to hear.

"Hmm..." she says, taking sudden interest in her phone. locking it, unlocking it, and so on.

"What is wrong with him, Jo?"

Jo looks up at me, and her face scrunches in to a 'I don't like where this conversation is heading.' expression. But I press on, curiosity getting a better hold of me.

"Gwen" she sighs, giving up.

Gwen? Wait, I have heard that name somewhere, but where? Think Kruz, think! I think a light bulb somewhere in my head went ON as I remembered.

"The girl whose photograph was in the news paper a few months ago?"

She looks at me surprised that I had seen it. She slowly nods.

"She was... really an amazing person. And really clever." Her eyes were shiny as she remembered Gwen.

I go into a flashback as I remember Nancy and me sitting on the couch last night.

Gwen Stacy, was written under the photo of a beautiful blonde girl. It was on front page of a newspaper dated 8 months ago. Jack was a really good cop and he had died during the whole Electro Vs Spider man war. The same night that Gwen was killed. His story was printed right below Gwen's on the very front page. Nancy showed me the newspaper, and as I read through Jack's article, I cried feeling proud and sad at the same time.

"Someday I'll give this to Sid, and he'll be proud of his dad." Nancy said, wiping her tears.

"Someday, he'll understand why this loss was necessary and how his dad saved a hundred other life by sacrificing his own."

Nancy gets up from the comfy couch walking towards the kitchen to get some water for her dry throat. That''s when I see Gwen and that beautiful confident smile of hers. She was only nineteen. I read through her article and realize that she hit her head and died on the spot.Apart from that, her death is a mystery. They believe she was a victim of Electro, simply at the wrong place at the wrong time, just like Jack. The story was really sad, and I felt bad for her too. I wonder if her family is doing any better than mine.

But why had Gwen's death affected Peter?

"Gwen was Peter's girlfriend back in college." Jo answers my unasked question bringing me back to the present.
