chapter 3 love arrives

It was only a few months till the tournament.   I was training very hard. I didn't want to leave anything up to chance. This was the one that mattered most. If outworld wins we're doomed.  I couldn't let this happen.  I trained to exhaustion for a few days.  But then a month in. I started not being able to sleep. I couldn't sleep at the thought of earthrealm being merged with outworld. So I started training twentu four seven.  My only breaks were for bathing, and eating.  I would take micro naps that didn't last longer than an hour. 

One day during training lord Raiden approached me.

Raiden: Y/n. I believe you should rest.

Y/n: I have tried lord Raiden. But I can not sleep for long. I can't stand the thought of us losing this tournament.

Raiden: I understand.  But you can't fight if you are too tired to think. 

Y/n: I...I know. But I didn't stand a chance against Shao Khan last time.

Raiden: That was two years ago. I'm still not sure how he managed to set foot here since Sindel put that seal.

Y/n: Must have been a temporary solution.  But still. I can't sleep thinking of what might happen.

Raiden put his hand on my shoulder. 

Raiden: Fear not. I have faith that with you and Liu Kang both, we will win. You don't have to face Shao Khan. You only have to beat Shang Tsung.

Y/n: That helps a little. But I...I'm still scared.

Raiden: It is normal to be scared of defeat here. This is a all or nothing tournament.  But I do believe this one will be the victory we need. To keep us safe for five hundred years.

Y/n: I hope you are right.

Raiden: Just remember my words. And try to get a good night's sleep tonight. 

Y/n: I'll try lord Raiden. Thank you for your words.

Raiden walked away. That night I took a bath and when I was done I went into my room to try and sleep.   I closed my eyes but couldn't keep them closed. 

Cetrion: Having problems sleeping Y/n?

I turned to see Cetrion standing in my room.  I didn't question it since she always has a knack for appearing out of thin air.

Y/n: Yeah. Though I reckon you know that already. 

Cetrion: I have been watching you. Raiden is right you know. You need rest.

Y/n: I can't. No matter what I try. I can't fall asleep. 

Cetrion walked up to my bed and looked down at me.

Cetrion: I have an idea. But first I need you to back up against the wall and turn around. 

I listened to her instruction I felt my bed shift, and I could feel a pair of arms wrap around me. I could feel Cetrion move up against me. I blushed and a million thoughts circled my mind.

Y/n nervous: L...lady Cetrion?!

Cetrion softly: Shhh. Just relax Y/n. I have something to tell you.

Y/n nervous: O...Okay.

Cetrion: I knew you're father. He indeed was an interesting individual.  But in my opinion, his son is far more interesting.  When I first met you, I could tell you were destined for greatness.   It is no secret, I visit you quite a bit.

Y/n: Yeah.

Cetrion: Raiden has questioned me on it once. He's known me for a long time. And he knows I rarely visit anyone once, much less multiple times.  Do you ever wonder why that is?

Y/n: It does cross my mind.

Cetrion: Because Y/n. I am in love with you.

I couldn't believe my ears. An elder god is in love with me. Sounds like some old mythology.  But this was real, very real.

Y/n: I...I...Um...I l...lo-.

Cetrion softly: Shh. I know what you are trying to say my love.

Y/n softly: Okay. 

Cetrion softly: Just listen to my voice as you fall asleep in my arms. You must rest so you can defend this realm from the outworld.

Y/n: What about other nights?

Cetrion: I plan on spending nights with you from now on.

I smiled and relaxed in Cetrion's embrace.

Cetrion softly: Goodnight my love. For now our love is secret.  Not all should know of it yet. After the tournament they should be allowed to know.

Y/n: Goodnight.

I feel asleep for the first time in so long. I woke up in the morning.  To see Cetrion was gone. But on the floor nearby was a single red rose.  I smiled and got up and picked it up placing it on my nightstand. 

I went out to the training yard. To see Liu and Kung training together.  They saw me and stopped.

Kung: Hey Y/n. We didn't see you this morning when we started training. 

Liu: Does that mean you finally slept?

Y/n: Yeah. I'm rested and I feel great. 

Liu: How about a spar then?

Kung: I'll be the judge.

Y/n: Alright. 

Liu and I got in our stances and got ready to fight. I felt great being able to enjoy training with my second family again. And I have Cetrion to thank for helping me sleep.
