chapter 5 new tournament.

We were celebrating the victory.  Even though Cetrion wasn't there in person. I knew she was watching.  And I knew she was happy I won.  But the celebration was cut short when a portal opened and a warband of Tarkatans came through.  We fought them off by the time the sun rose. But they took Shaolin and Sonya Blade.  Raiden spoke of Shang Tsung offering a new tournament, and threatening that earthrealm will forever be in danger until we accept.   Raiden saw a vision of Liu Kang and I beating Shao Khan and shouted to the elder gods that he accepted the challenge.    While Liu Kang and Kung Lao went to save the Shaolin.  I was with Raiden, Johnny Cage and Jax.  Jax approached and accidentally volunteered to be the first Kombatant.   I looked to the left behind a pillar to see Cetrion.  She was signaling me to come to her.  I used tbe fight as a distraction. 

Cetrion: I never did congratulate you Y/n.

Y/n: Don't congratulate me yet. We now got this.

Cetrion: I know. I wish I could help you more but I have done all I can. Just know I'm always watching over you. 

Y/n: Thank you.

Cetrion pulled me in and we kissed for a few seconds.

Cetrion: Now go my love. Before Raiden realizes you're gone.

I nodded and went back to Raiden just in time to see Jax win the fight.  Raiden warned us that Sonya was to be executed, he sas it in a vision. He tried to teleport us to her. But we didn't know where we were. 

Jax and Johnny cage got in a fight.  Jax won and seconds after someone else came in saying the armory was off limits. Jax beat her in a fight and we left. We found where they were keeping Sonya. We beat the guards and Sheeva. 

Sonya detected two energy signals. Raiden, Johnny and I went to one while Sonya and Jax went to the other.

When we arrived we found one black clothed lin Kuei being attacked by a group of robots. Raiden zapped them all deactivating them. He introduced himself as Smoke. 

Eventually we got Kung Lao and Liu Kang and went to find Kitana earlier went to help us.  But instead we were met with Jade who said Kitana was Captured. Kung Lao and Liu Kang would go to rescue her while I would go with Raiden, Smoke and Johnny to participate in the tournament. 

Liu Kang went to fight the ones guarding Kitana

Y/n: I will fight Lord Raiden.

Raiden: Wait. I believe I'm supposed to change who is he who wins.

Y/n: So if not me or Liu Kang. Then who.

Raiden looked at Kung Lao.

Kung Lao smiled and stepped forward.  He faced Shang Tsung and Quan Chi and came out victorious surprisingly.   But then he had to fight some tiger looking guy, he still won. The crowd booed.

Kung: See Raiden. Earthrealm is free.

Shao Khan went behind Kung and snapped his neck.

Raiden: Kung Lao!

Y/n: No!

Raiden: I will rip the flesh from your bones!

I charged and kicked Shao Khan onto the ground.

Shao: Not bad. But do you remember who I am Y/n.

Y/n: The murderer of my brother in arms.

Shao: I am Shao Khan! Conquerer of words! You wilm not taste victory. 

Y/n: You will taste my foot!

I waa enraged. Shao Khan's punches barely hurt. I caught one of his fists and drove mine straight through him like it was nothing.  He spat out blood. I took my arm out and he fell over presumably dead.   I looked over to Kung Lao and approached his dead body.

I kneeled over his dead body.

Y/n: It should have been me. Not you. 

Raiden looked at his amulet it was still broken.

Raiden: How!? He is dead! How is history not changed!?

I punched the ground out of anger.

Y/n: DAMN IT ALL!

When we got back to the temple. I went to my room. I sat at my bed. I was fighting back tears remembering the times with Kung Lao.  I felt a hand on my shoulder.  I looked to see Cetrion.  I couldn't hold it in anymore.  I let tears fall and Cetrion pulled me in and hugged me comforting me. I cried into her shoulder. 

Cetrion: It is alright to cry Y/n. Losing someone is never easy.  But you must not blame yourself.  You did what you could. 

Y/n: I shouldn't have listened to Raiden. I should have fought.

Cetrion: Perhaps someone had to die.

Y/n: I wish it would have been me. 

We stood there hugging for what felt like ages. I didn't want to let go. I felt much better in her arms.  But eventually we did part.

Cetrion laid down in my bed.

Cetrion: Come Y/n. Sleep.

I listened and laid next to Cetrion who pulled me in against her. I couldn't help but drift off. I was glad she was there with me. I wouldn't be able to do this alone.
