chapter 14 fire, ice, and virtue

We made it back to the special forces base I got patched up and watched Liu Kang and Kung Lao spar.  He explained that we had to beat Kronika to stop the change.   I went with Raiden to talk to Cassie.

Raiden: What have learned about Kronika's affect on earthrealm?

Cassie: we're tracking sites around the globe with major temporal anomalies. Picture's still fuzzy.

Y/n: It won't be any easier. Cetrion aids them. She believes it to protect our family.

Cassie: Damn. We isolated anomalies that also have nether realm attacks.

Raiden: Helpful. But we have more than nether realm to worry about.

Cassie: Yeah. Grandmaster Sub Zero has reported heavy loses to the Lin Kuei clan. The time merger resurrected his old enemy, Sektor. Oh and Boreas is safe Y/n.

Y/n: Thanks.

Cassie: He has reactivated and upgraded the same factor he used all those years ago

Raiden: What of Sub Zero?

Cassie: On his way to shut the factory down. Grandmaster Hasashi is going with him.  Khronos is also with them.

Raiden: Grandmaster Hasashi? Hanzo Hasashi?

Y/n: It'll be fine Raiden. Lin Kuei and Shira Ryu have found peace and an alliance.

Raiden: If you say that Y/n. It must be true.

(With Sub zero and Khronos.)

Sub zero was scouting the factory.  He could hear Hanzo behind him but ignored him as he approached.  He turned to see Hanzo point his kata at him.

Hanzo: Your hearing is failing Sub Zero.

At that point hanzo felt a blade on his back. He turned to Khronos with his knife pointed at his back.

Khronos: I think yours is worse.

Sub Zero: I recognized your footsteps Hanzo.

Hanzo: Wheres Sektor? I will not let him threaten my clan again.

Sub Zero: In the factory no doubt.  We can't go in the front.  We'll go in a side entrance and get help from the inside.

The trio snuck in when they entered the vivisection room. They could see the corpses of lin Kuei. Sub Zero picked up an insignia. 

Khronos: We'll avenge them Grandmaster.

Hanzo: Khronos is right.

Someone was coming.  The three hid and a door opened to reveal Cyrax and a woman in white her identity hidden. She put something in a machine.  Sub Zero froze him and Scorpion put Cyrax in a full nelson.

The woman broke free revealing herself. 

Khronos: F...Frost?!

Frost: Not the one you know. Kronika told me how you made me weaker. That I lost my ambition because of you!

Khronos: Its because we have a family.  But you wouldn't understand.  You are not my Frost. So this won't be difficult. 

Frost: Unlike your Frost. I am strong.  She is weak!

Khronos: Grandmaster! I will deal with this evil Frost.

Sub nodded and helped Scorpion. 

Frost: I am not her past or future.  I am different entirely. 

Khronos: Then I don't need to not kill you.

Khronos charged and in one punched knocked the evil Frost into the wall knocking her out.

Khronos: My Frost would have dodged.

Cyrax was knocked away. Then cyber Lin Kuei activated.  It wasn't hard to beat Cyrax after the others were scrapped.  They managed to remove the behaviour modifier.  But Scorpion was attacked by an unseen force.

Noob Saibot appeared.

Noob: Recognize me, little brother?

Kuai: Bi-Han?

Noob: Yes. It is I.

Scorpion: You were killed, swallowed in a storm of souls.

Noob: Quan Chi's creations do not die easily.

Khronos: Let's fix that. Allow me, Grandmaster. 

Kuai nodded and Khronos stepped forward. 

Khronos: My father told me about you. I'll make this quick.

Two shadows appeared and attacked Sub Zero and Scorpion. 

Noob: I will enjoy adding your soul to my service. 

Noob teleported with a portal.  Khronos did just as his dad did almost three decades ago. Grabbed Noob as he came up the other end. He pulled him out and punched him unconscious throwing him on the ground.

Khronos: Just like dad said you'd do.

Cyrax woke up and realized what he was turned into.  Cyrax said he could shut down the factory. A trio of missle were shot at us. Cyrax made a net making them all explode. Sektor appeared. 

Sektor: I was warned you two became allies.

Khronos: Allow me to defeat this false Lin Kuei.

Khronos approached, Sektor used his flame thrower. Which had no effect on the demi god. Instead Khronos fired a wave of ice which beat his flame and knocked him down. Khronos made a wall of ice above Sektor and slammed it down on him deactivating him.

Khronos: Not so tough when you're not killing innocents are you?

Cyrax hacked into their system and made their system shut down. It also shut him down which he was fully aware of. The enemy escaped and Khronos went back to sf desert base.  His Frost was waiting for him. 

Khronos went up to Frost and hugged her. Frost hugged back.

Frost: Are you okay Khronos?

Khronos: Yeah. Listen. While we were there. We ran into...well a different version of you.

They somewhat parted still holding one another. 

Frost: A past me?

Khronos: No. This one said she was from a different timeline.  She was cyberized but looked human. She was you but not you.

Frost: Is that bad?

Khronos: Yeah.

Frost: Well I'm not her. If I meet her, I'll kill her.

Khronos: That's my Frost.

They kissed for a few seconds. But the job is not done yet.
