chapter 1 meeting

It  was a normal day for me. Training with Liu Kang and Kung Lao.  We were sparing trying to perfect fighting multiple opponents at once. It was my turn to be the solo fighter. I was blocking and dodging punches and kicks from the two.  Kung Lao was fast, his punches were almost too fast. Liu Kang's kicks were powerful and almost out of nowhere making it difficult to counter.  But through strength and will alone I managed to beat both of them. 

I put my hands on my knees panting afterwards.  

Raiden: Well done Y/n.

I turned around to see lord Raiden behind me. I bowed.

Y/n: Thank you lord Raiden.

Raiden: I'm going to borrow Y/n for a while. Keep training you two.

Kung Lao and Liu Kang: Yes lord Raiden. 

I followed Raiden.

Y/n: Am...Am I in trouble Lord Raiden.

Raiden: Why would you be Y/n?

Y/n: Normally you take Liu Kang for a little bit. Not me. Because he's your chosen one.

Raiden: That is for a different reason.  You know who your father is don't you?

Y/n: The legendary elder god fighter. Fought against every elder god and won. Then went on to fight other gods of other realms. 

Raiden: After a while.your father grew tired of fighting.  Then he met your mother, and not too long after you came along.  But your mother grew sick and passed. Your father grew sick as well. But before he passed he brought you here so I could train you and give you a family again.

Y/n: Tell me. Was my father a good man?

Raiden: Your father was a man who didn't care for the gods. But he was not evil and didn't kill them because he feared what would happen if they were gone.   He was a good and wise man.

Y/n: Will I ever be like him.

We reached a door and stopped.

Raiden: Only time will tell Y/n. *opens door*

I saw a woman standing in the room. She looked strange to me. But I knew she had to be special if Raiden led me to her.

Raiden: Y/n. Meet lady Cetrion goddess of virtue. 

I instantly bowed.

Y/n: It is an honor to meet you lady Cetrion.

Cetrion: The honor is mine young Y/n. To meet the son of the man who defeated me and the other elder gods over thirty years ago.  When he passed fifteen years, Raiden informed us that his infant son was here.

Raiden: I have trained Y/n to be a good warrior. One day he might be as strong as his father.

Cetrion: I believe he will become even stronger.

Y/n: Thank you lady Cetrion.  I hope to not let you down.

Cetrion: Don't do it for me. Do it for your father.

Raiden: I do appreciate the visit  lady Cetrion. 

Cetrion: It was good to see you again. And to meet young Y/n. Until we meet again.

She disappeared into a column of light.

Raiden: Take prode in yourself, not everyone gets a compliment from an elder god.

Y/n: I'm surprised she came to see me. I thought the elder gods would hate me for my father.

Raiden: He has their respect. And that means it passes to you.  Now, we should head back so you can continue training. 

Y/n: Yes lord Raiden.

A month later I was wandering a forest. No goal in mind. I wandered and wandered. 

Cetrion: What is it you search for Y/n.

I turned to see Cetrion behind me, I bowed.

Y/n: Nothing lady Cetrion. Though I am surprised to see you.

Cetrion: I too enjoy nature.  But I belive your lost.

Y/n: That is half the fun.

Cetrion: I suppose it is.  Follow me Y/n. I will show you a wonder.

I listened and followed Cetrion. I wondered where we were going.  I didn't fear since she surely wouldn't lead me into a deathtrap.  Eventually we reached a spring, a waterfall flowed into it making a small rainbow at the bottom.

Y/n: Woah.

Cetrion: One of nature's natural beauties.  Sadly there is not so many anymore because of humans.

Y/n: You are not wrong lady Cetrion.   But I suppose I'll have to enjoy the beauty until its gone.

Cetrion: That is all we can do. Tell me Y/n. How do you feel about Liu Kang being Raiden's chosen one?

Y/n: Who am I to judge Raiden's choice? He wants to protect earthrealm, and he has visions. Maybe that was one of them?

Cetrion: I doubt it. I personally would have chosen you Y/n.

Y/n: Thank you lady Cetrion. May I ask why?

Cetrion: Because.  You remind me so much of your father. And you may not know it, but I am watching sometimes.  I can see that Liu Kang is little match for you. You hold back because he is your friend.

Y/n: That is true.

Cetrion: My point exactly. I find it foolish. But I am not Raiden and can not make the decision for him. 

Y/n: I don't mind. As long as earthrealm is safe. I'm happy even if my name isn't mentioned.  I'm just glad to play my part in everything. 

Certion: *smiles* Humility, even in times you most certainly deserve respect.  A rare virtue.

   Y/n: I suppose so. I should be heading back. If I'm gone too long lord Raiden will grow worried.

Cetrion: Follow your heart Y/n. And you'll never be lost.

Y/n: Thank you, lady Cetrion.

I left and found my way out. I will admit.  I like lady Cetrion more than lord Raiden. But I would never betray the god that gave up immortality to protect us.
