"Care to tell me where you two were? You're fifteen minutes late to class,"

I opened my mouth to answer but Niall beat me to it.

"We were in the music room," he admitted.

"And what were you two doing in the music room when you had an English session?" Miss Abigail questioned with a stern tone.

"Sorry," Niall and I mumbled.

"Miss Simmons, I've had it with you. You're always late for class, you never do your homework, you got straight D's for the whole semester and giving you detention doesn't seem to work," I fidgeted as the entire class chuckled at my public humiliation, "You may send yourself to the principal's office and he'll know how to deal with you," she paused "as for you Mr. Horan, you have detention this Saturday, you may go back to your seat," she finished off.

"What? How is that fair?" I protested.

"She's right, it was my fault. I took her to the music room," Niall defended me.

"Do not talk back to me! You should be happy I let you off with detention, Niall," she scolded.

"Well, I'm not happy she's getting into trouble because of me!" Niall nearly yelled.

"Mind your tone, young man! We have wasted enough time already, Rachel -- to the principal's office -- now!" She pointed at the door, motioning for me to get out, "Horan, you'd best be returning to your seat if you wouldn't like to join her," Niall sent me an apologetic look before going back to his seat.

I slowly walked towards the door, opening it and walking out. I hesitantly walked towards the principal's office for the second time that day, knowing I was in real shit this time.

I knocked three times on the door before walking in and standing in front of Principal Brady's desk. He looked up from the stack of papers on his desk, giving a sigh of exhaustion before speaking.

"What have you done this time, Rachel?" He said with a tired tone.

"Before you get upset, I have a completely reasonable explanation for this,"

He motioned for me to continue as he put on his old-fashioned glasses.

"Niall and I were in the music room, neither of us had watches, so we were a little late for class. So my teacher gets all upset and asks me to come here, which I don't really understand because Niall got off with detention. I mean, can you believe that?" I ranted as he rolled his eyes, interrupting me halfway.

"Look, Miss Simmons, I know you're used to being late for class and getting terrible grades, but don't drag Niall into your little world of failure."

"What are you talking about? He took me to the music room!" I said, doing random hand gestures to prove my point.

"Of course," he replied sarcastically, "I'm sorry, Rachel, but I have no choice but to suspend you." He said, pushing his glasses further up his nose.

"What! No, my mom will kill me!" I half-yelled.

"I'm sorry, but that's none of my concern, you're not allowed on school premises until three days from now."

"But-"

"One more word and you'll be expelled." he raised a finger, gesturing for me to remain silent.

I groaned angrily, pulling the door open and storming out of the office to the nearest park from school that Niall and I always went to.

Once I got there, I sat on one of the rather small swings and pushed my back and forth, wondering how I was going to break the news of my suspension to my mom. I didn't have to have a brain as big as Einstein's to know that she would be more than disappointed in me.
