She bowed as her master reached the door.
He turned slightly, hair shifting incrementally in the light.
"I will be going into town. Please take care of the place while I'm gone."
She nodded, watching him put his shoes on,
But in a sudden flash of panic, she remembered
The words her last master had said on a day like this one,
Almost exactly the same, as if the situation was happening all over again.
With a small gasp of fear, she darted forward, hand gripping his shoulder,
Her heart trembling as the old feelings of betrayal and loneliness sprung up from hiding.
"Wait, sir. I'll come with you."
