When we enter the mansion, I can't help but stare at it in complete awe. The interior is even more stunning than the exterior of the house. Everything seems to be white and polished. The ceiling is high and there is a beautiful chandelier hanging by the glass staircase.
James leads me to the kitchen, where all of the countertops are marble. On top of the counters are endless bottles of beer and shots.
James hands me a beer that he already opened and I graciously take it.
"Thanks. This house is beautiful," I say to James after taking a small swig of my beer.
"Why, thank you. At least there's one thing my parents did right," a feminine voice from behind James calls.
James turns around and a smile takes over his face. He sits his beer down on the marble counter and wraps his arms around the short and petite girl. She's wearing a bikini bra and a small dark blue denim skirt, with stilettos so high that she may as well be on stilts. This must be her way of substituting for her lack of natural height. Her hair, a shiny platinum blonde colour, reaches her butt in wavy curls.
"Nice to see you, Rox," he says, pulling away from her embrace.
"You two, Kennedy. You and Soph never come by anymore. I was getting worried that you wouldn't pitch," the girl says with a soft smile.
"And miss the party of the century? Never," James says with an adorable smile. What happened to keeping your distance, huh Ally? I really am terrible at this. I should find Sophie instead.
"Ally!" James waves his hands in front of my face, catching my attention.
I snap my head to look at him. His face is frowning with confusion. "Is everything okay? You don't seem like you're here tonight," he has to shout over the deafening music for me to hear.
"Uh, yeah. I'm good," I hold a thumbs up in case he doesn't hear me, before settling my eyes on Roxy.
"I'm Ally. Nice to meet you," I smile widely at her as I stretch my hand out for her to shake.
She completely ignores my hand and goes in for a hug. I wrap my arms around her in a short embrace before she pulls away just enough to see my face.
"I'm Roxy," she smiles, keeping my shoulders within the distance of her arms' length. "You're beautiful."
"You're so beautiful as well," I say, meaning it. She was like a more natural version of a Barbie. Her blue eyes looked like you could swim in them and her cheekbones look like could cut watermelons. She could be a model.
"What she means to say is," James swings his arm around my shoulder and I flinch from surprise, "'Thank you, Roxy.' I thought we were improving your confidence?" he asks me.
"I didn't agree to anything sir," I look up to him with a smirk. He rolls his eyes.
"Where's Sophie?" I ask, looking around. I don't wanna be stuck here with James and Roxy. I like her, but I sort of feel like a third wheel.
"If I know her, she's probably on the dance floor," James points to the opposite side of the house with his arm that's not wrapped around me.
"Then that's where I'll be if you need me," I remove his arm from my shoulder and give them both a small smile before walking over to the dimly lit area with no time for them to reply.
Halfway across the room, I feel a hand tug on my arm, turning me towards them. James stares at me with curious eyes instead of his usual charming ones.
"Are you sure everything's okay?" James asks me, a genuine look of concern spread across his features. He gently pulls me toward him until there is almost no space between us and my breathing hitches.
