A/N: LMAO I was so tired when I finished the previous chapter that I said episode instead of chapter and I'm sitting on my bed choking with laughter because I find this hilarious. It's probably not even that funny but I felt like sharing this with you.
I crack myself up.

To say that the elevator ride back up to Sophie's room was awkward is the understatement of the century.
James and I stand on opposite sides of the elevator, neither one of us daring to even breathe loudly. The silence is maddening but there is no way I'm saying anything. He did it, so he can talk about it.
Our kiss made me even more confused about everything. This was actually the cherry on top of my confusion. Does this change things between us? Of course it will, that was a stupid question. Nothing ever stays the same after a kiss, whether you try to ignore it or not.
The sound of the elevator when the doors open snaps me out of my thoughts. I hurry as fast as I can out of the elevator, not wanting to initiate any conversation with him whatsoever.
I hear him follow my footsteps closely from behind me, but I don't turn around.
I peer through the small, rectangular window attached to her room door that looks into her room but I only see her bunkmate. I knock on the door softly before slowly entering, smiling at the woman who looks in her late 50's next to Sophie's bed. There is a partition curtain between them.
When we walk to the end of the room, Sophie immediately turn her head and stares at James and I wide-eyed. Her mother is sitting next to her, clutching onto her arm and rubbing small circles with her thumb.
Candace looks at us and smiles, standing up from the seat next to the bed. "Where'd you guys run off to? When I came into the waiting area, you weren't there."
"Vending machine," James shortly replies.
"Okay. Well, I'll give you guys some privacy," Candace shoots me a warm smile, which I reciprocate. She moves to her son and kisses his forehead, despite him being a good number of inches shorter than him. She's an average height for a woman. James smiles at the loving gesture from his mom. Momma's boy. It warms my heart. She leaves the room and I stare back at Sophie with a relieved smile.
She doesn't look too bad. She has a huge gauze on the right side of her forehead and a couple of scrapes on her face. She has a bandage around her leg and it's encased in a sling that's attached to the ceiling, keeping her leg elevated above her heart to reduce the swelling. Apart from that and the required needles and extra things that she has on her body, she looks okay overall, which makes me ecstatic.
James takes the seat next to his sister and wraps her hand around his, kissing her hand gently. The sweet gesture makes me smile. It seems to do the same for Sophie.
"You've gone all soft on me because I'm injured now, huh?" Sophie smirks at James, and I silently breathe out now that I know Sophie is back to her usual jokey self. The same seems to be going though James' mind as he chuckles softly.
"I'm really glad you're okay, Soph," James smiles. Sophie puts her other hand on top of his in a sign of reassurance.
"And look at you, Ms. Crawford. Have you guys been here all night?" Sophie moves her head between the both of us. I nod my head and so does James.
"You really didn't have to, I'm okay. That was unnecessary," Sophie sighs.
"What was unnecessary was you not answering my calls last night. What the fuck happened to you?" James raises his voice slightly.
