A sharp ring interrupts Liv and I's tedious discussion about the makeup look she would be trying for the showcase today. I've never been one to hop onto the trend of makeup and hair. Considering I'm one of the laziest people I know, this doesn't come as much of a surprise to people. Therefore, it was given that Liv would be attending to my appearance debacle today.
The sound is recognizable as my phone, which was currently upstairs on my bedside table. I quickly race up the stairs, careful not to slip on the scarlet satin robe I'm wearing as I run two steps up at a time. I quickly reach the phone just as it reaches its 6th ring and answer it, not bothering to check the caller ID.
"Hello?" I answer, a little breathless from my morning run up the stairs.
"How's it going bitch," I immediately recognize Bella's voice and I smile. I close my door and plop down on my bed.
"Doing okay, how about you bitch?" I chuckle, imitating her greeting.
She laughs at my reply. "I'm doing okay. Listen, I just wanted to tell you that I won't be able to see you before your performance so I'll see you after your showcase, if that's okay."
"Yeah of course, just... why can't you see me before?"
Bella pauses for a second before she continues. "We-I, uh... I had to book a later flight because the first one I wanted was fully booked. I'll be there in time for the showcase though, don't worry. "
I frown at her. Why does she sound so nervous?
"Uh, okay then. Where did you book your seat for the showcase?"
"I think it's in D16, or something like that."
"Oh wow. You got good tickets. Those are right up front."
"I had to spend like half an hour getting my tickets because there was so much traffic on the website. It was crazy."
"Yeah, the tickets sold out within 6 hours or something like that apparently."
"Yeah. Okay well, I'll see you soon. I've got to start packing," I hear her laughter coming from the other side of the line and roll my eyes.
"Of course," I chuckle. "You know, I still don't understand why you want to get a hotel when you can come sleep at my place. It's a waste of money to get a room, if I'm honest. I know that Liv is sleeping in the guest room but we could've bunked together."
"I-I know, but I.. I don't know, I just felt like I should get one. It's okay. Anyway, I'll see you later. Good luck, Ally. You'll do amazing, I'm sure of it."
"Bell, are you okay? You sound a little bit off."
"Yeah, I'm all good," she sounds a little unconvincing but she rushes her words before I can ask her to elaborate on it. "Love you. I'll see you later."
"Love you too," I furrow my eyebrows as she hangs up. What is going on with her?
I decide that I would press her about it later, after the showcase. Right now, everything in my head is running amok and I can't afford to add more to my plate anymore.
The events of today are weighing down on me like a ton of bricks. I feel on edge, uneasy and my nerves are running loose all over the apartment. I can't shake this dreading fear or messing up or failing and it's taking a toll on me early in the morning. My whole potential dancing career relies on this night. Tonight.
No pressure.
My body still feels pretty tired because of the lack of sleep I've been getting these past few weeks. My nightmares have been showing up a little more these days, completely throwing off my mental alarm clock. Last night was the first night since the beginning of the week that a nightmare hasn't shown up, so I would've still been happily snoring in my bed if it weren't for Liv who insisted that 7:30am was the latest I could sleep in order for the busy day ahead to run smoothly without having to rush. I called bullshit, but of course, Liv did not care.
