-=Error's POV=-

"ThAt'S iT!!" I exclaimed, finally realizing what had been giving me that unsettling feeling.

"What?" Ink asked, looking up from the leaf he was boredly playing with.

"GeNo'S nEcKlAcE, i DoN't HaVe It AnYmOrE.." I said slowly, resting my hand on where the heart charm usually was, my fingers curling around empty air.

"Oh.. Hey, don't worry, I'll look for it!" Ink replied, getting up from where he sat and brushing himself off.

I nodded, not really feeling up to arguing with him. Ink can be really stubborn when he wants to, and my arm is killing me, so I'm not complaining about not having to do anything.

Ink hummed as he started walking along the edge of the river, stopping every once in a while. I watched him for a few minutes before I felt my eyelids start to droop. Man, I guess the adrenaline is finally starting to wear off, and not sleeping any last night is beginning to catch up to me.

Yawning, I leaned against the tree I was sitting in front of and let myself slowly drift off into the world of sleep. At least, I almost drifted off...

"Error!" I heard Ink shout, "I found it..."

I groaned and forced my eye-sockets open, too tired to feel happy or to fully register the hesitance in his voice.

"Coming..." I mumbled out, shuffling in the same direction Ink had gone and rubbing my eyes.

I came to a stop when I spotted Ink perched on a rocky outcrop that jutted out a few feet above the river.

"Was it up there..?" I asked, looking up at Ink, who, from where he was sitting, was a foot or two above me.

If it was up there then I have no idea how it got there. Or how Ink saw it. How'd he even get up there...? Why does he like high places? Maybe its because he's short...

"No, I just decided to come up here.." Ink sighed, leaning back, "Here.. i'm sorry.."

I held open my hand and Ink dropped the necklace into my awaiting palm.

"Why are you?-" I paused when I saw the necklace closer.

There was a large, uneven crack running down the center of the heart, and flipping the charm over revealed that in went all the way through the metal. How it wasn't already in two separate halves I will never know.

"I was thinking that you can hold it together with your strings and then have it fixed when we get out of here.." Ink said, glancing from my face to the charm then back to my face to gauge my reaction, "I know how important it is to you..."

I nodded slowly, and Ink looked away from me, instead refocusing his attention on the river in front and below him. Looking back at the heart charm one last time, I gripped the necklace by it's chain and swung it against the side of the ledge. There was a metallic sound as the charm hit the rock, and the now split charm fell to the ground with a dull thunk.

"Error!" Ink exclaimed, his pupils turning to red exclamation marks to show his shock.

I bent down and picked up the halves, which had split cleanly where the crack was. One of them had the chain, the other didn't. I wrapped one of my strings around that one and held them both up to Ink.

"Error..?"

"TaKe OnE."

Ink's eye-lights turned to question marks as his gaze kept switching between the two halves. Hesitantly, he reached out and grabbed the one that had my string around it. Smiling, I put the remaining half around my neck.

"ThIs Is BaSiCaLlY mY SoUl, MiGhT aS wElL sHaRe It WiTh ThE mOsT iMpOrTaNt PeRsOn In My LiFe." I explained before realizing what I had just said, sudden warmth rushing to my cheeks, "i-I m-M-mEaN- nOt L-lIkE t-T-tHat!- I-i-"

Ink giggled, bright rainbow colors covering his cheekbones, "Thank you, Error."

I made a frustrated noise, glitching horribly and blushing brightly as I hid my face in my scarf. God, why am I so bad at this?! Ink's laughter filled my ears (?), only making me feel more embarrassed. At least he was happy.

-=Still Error's POV=-

"Hey, Error?" Ink asked, the small bonfire in front of him bathing his face in warm light.

"HmM?"

"I was thinking... how much longer do you think we'll be out here?" He fidgeted with the half-heart charm as he asked this, the blue of the string complimenting his eye-light nicely.

He actually seemed quite tense, much different to how happy and calm he seemed just a few hours earlier. The mood changed drastically once I realized this.

"iT sHoUlDn'T bE tOo LoNg NoW." I said casually, trying to lighten the suddenly darkened mood, "ThEy SaW wHeRe We WeNt, It ShoUlDn'T bE tOo HaRd FoR tHeM tO fInD uS."

"I guess..." Ink replied, his tone not matching his words, "It's just... we've been out here for nearly 3 day, what if they don't find us? W-What if- What if I die out here?! I- I don't want to be forgotten!! I d-don't wanna die alone!!"

Translucent tears pricked at the corners of his sockets as his eye-lights started rapidly changing color and shape. He shivered as his eye-lights quickly darted around.

"HeY, hEy, InKy." I said, pulling him closer to me, "It'S oKaY, yOu'Re NoT aLoNe."

Ink sniffed and looked up at me. I clicked our necklaces together and held it up to him.

"I'm HeRe. We'Ll GeT oUt Of ThIs ToGeThEr. I pRoMiSe."
